MY car is making the same noise but i haven't had time to find out what it is yet. But it does sound like a spring noise. I know someone that had an intergra that made the same sound and it was the parking brake mech on the rear caliper that was making the sound. I also think my rotors are moving when i am cornering i don't know whats up with that. But i would check for lose bolts first.

could you describe the clicking any further?

is it just one click that happens just as you hit the brakes?

sounds like you need to check you brakes. grease the slide pins and check other brake hardware. make sure pads are not worn out . probably not caliper related, but you need to make sure it is not dragging the brakes while you inspect them.

a lot of the time its going to be the hardware for the brakes. sometimes it can be tricky to diagnose and fix. good brake guy can fix it easy.

I have this noise before also. But I fixed it by turning up the stereo. But before I could fix this problem on my first rx, i jumped it over a street and killed the engine dead.

What I thought it the noise was caused by. A clicking noticable when comming to a stop at slow speeds, are the anti rattle springs pins.

They are connected to your brake shoes themselves. I would imagine that just like everything else on the road, they might be old or bent or just plain not there any more. But then again, since I never had the chance to fix the problem the brake shoe configuration is where I was going to start.

pads and discs are pretty new. about the noise. it's just as Templeswain said. it's at low speeds. and it happens at the SAME time i first hit the brakes.

it might be my slide pins. are they the things on top of the calipers? are they suppose to be 'sliding' the discs? because they're not.. and if they are, what would i use to grease them?

sorry gentlemen, i'm a brake dumbass..

The brake 'clicking' has been discussed a couple of times with no real conclusion. Yet.

I have the same noise, only I have several clicks when I depress the pedal.

I have cleaned all the brake parts, cleaned and filed the pins, cleaned and filed the calipers (where the pads ride at the top and bottom), made sure the springs were working correctly, checked the caliper to spindle bolts and 'clips' (the little metal clips that fit between the caliper and spindle), basically made sure everything moved freely and was tight. All to no avail. Still have the 'clicking'.
I thought maybe it might be the suspension shifting during braking, but I get the noise even when the car is on jack stands. I could even feel the click when I held the brake hose while a friend worked the brakes.

I have four piston calipers, which unless I am mistaken, everyone with this problem on the fornt has the four pistons.

But, a recent development may provide some insight. I have a caliper that seems to be sticking (I have one wheel that tends to 'chirp' a little on hard braking). I surmise that the 'clicking' may be the pistons starting to lightly stick and popping loose.

Wow i am guessing i am the only person with a single piston brakes that have the clicking problem. Am i lucky or what. Well when i first got my 7 a few months ago i lube all the pins. But i am suspeing that little spring thing that seperate the brake pads. THey tend to break off when you change the brake pads. Or it might be the Parking brake link since the brake is link to the parking brakes mech. Maybe one of the pins are lose? Any one want to check on that? I am kind of lazy.

Not sure about the pistons sticking. Because my clicking noise occurs when you press the brake pedal.

I also have the same clicking noise, mine is a single piston caliper.
I checked and there's no sticking calipers.
The noise occur sometimes when the car almost came to a stop.

I get the same clicking, but I can feel it in the pedal... it's somewhat "crunchy" if you will, the noise comes from the front left. Both of my front calipers are new rebuilds, too. Weird.

well, i guess i'm not alone then. if it is infact a serious problem then atleast we know that if we get in an accedent because of that then other people with the same problem will most likely get in an accedent too.

therefore we won't feel as bad

I have the same noise and always assumed it to be caliper related.

Go to the dealership and pick up a brake hardware kit for each caliper (relatively cheap.) It's just a bunch of metal shims that go in with your pads.

Clean the **** out of everything like opelbits described before putting them in, and use LOTS of anti-squeal goo on everything, including between the shims.

Then see what happens to your noises.

If you don't replace or resurface the rotors, the pads will "walk" up and down on the rotor surface on the old grooves, even if they are slight, causing this same noise...

This is kinda what is happening to me. I also have noise when turning the wheel alot like coming out of a parking space.

I plan to go through my drivers side front and check the suspension. I just replaced my strut mount and know that's not the cause.

I'm thinking shifting pads or bad bushing in my suspension.

Kind weird how everyone got this sound at the same time.

My pads and rotors are only 5 months old but I have noticed a groove on the rotor.

I also have this problem, I can hear a clunking noise well traveling at low speeds. But you cant hear it well going faster like 40-45mph (maby because of the exhaust noise). Mine stops under braking.
Hummm kinda weird that every one is having the same problem at the same time. Any one got any news of a way to fix it?

I have all my springs.

I guess I was wrong about it being a four piston caliper problem.

Brake Pad Clips

I have that same noise from the rear of my 87 GXL. It only happens under regular braking, not under heavy braking. Last weekend I took the caliper off and cleaned it. The little spring clip that the pad rides on was bent. I bent it back by hand and put everything together. I drove it around for an hour and no noise! I couldn't believe it was that stupid little clip. It looks like an engineering afterthought to me. Anyway, after an hour of driving, the sound came back slowly. It is now back in full force and by looking through my wheel, I can see that the clip is bent again. I'm ordering new ones tomorrow. We shall see what happens.

As I read these, I find myself saying yea I have heard this too, sounds kinda like a pop when your break or corner fast or accellerate out of a parking space... The only catch here is that it happens with our 1996 Dodge Intrepid. I believe it could be bearing related or loose something or another, I dont believe it is brake related. someone should record an audio file of the clunk or pop or whatever, then I say to dealers we go till we find this out~ I had a friend that also experianced this and lost his weel right off the spindle :O

BTW: car was a 1986 RX7
