cleaning intake manifold
after removing my LIM to replace my o-rings, i decided to kinda clean it off a bit
since its already out.
i asked my friend who works at a performance shop if its alright
to just spray the whole thing down with brake cleaner inside and out.
and he says its fine.
so i do.
after spraying it the intake ports turn rusty yellow orange.
wtf?!
i just wanna know if its alright to just put it back on the car and will it affect it at all.
or do i need to clean it all off again somehow
keeping in mind i cant bring it to someone to hot tank it or anything like that.

as long as all you have is the metal part (no rubber hoses or o-rings) i jus threw mine into a bucket of purple power degreaser, pulled it out and sprayed it with high pressure water.

^ I will attest to this. I went out and got some purple power today. I soaked my LIM in a bucket mixed with half purple power and half water. I didnt even have to scrub!!! Within about 3 hours, ALL of the carbon buildup inside the LIM (and it was hideously bad) was gone!! Power Purple works great!!
Run down to your local autoparts store and pick up some Purple Power. And remember; if it isnt purple, it isnt powerful.
