a clarification please
i was searching the word: "torque" coz i wanted to find ways to increase the TQ of my 1991 n/a.
then i came across a thread where a little arguement started over wiring the 5th and 6th ports open reduces low end torque, but increases accel.
from my automotive understanding, more torque @ lower rpms = faster accel.
hence y a Grand National can kill mostly anything coz it has gobs of tq. at low rpms.
so question: im confused, how can wiring ur ports open give you better accel. if it reduces low end tq.?

increase acceleration? it increases your top end if they weren't functional in the first place. if you have non-functioning ports, and don't want to fix them the right way, then you either lose top end, or lose bottom end.
if you want to increase torque and hp, you really need to add boost. there's really no magical bolt on that can increase torque for the N/As. I mean of course you'll find little ways of increasing power, but if you're gonna get serious, add boost to your engine with a supercharger, or swap a turbo in.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Wiring the aux ports open will only reduce low end HP and Torque. There are no gains from that ill advised modification.
Now some people think there are gains, when they have been running with the aux ports not operating correctly, and yes then when comparied to having the aux ports always closed, there will be some gain at the top end for HP and Torque because of the loss of the ports not working in the first place.
But that should not be confused with a properly working system. Wiring them open on a properly working system will only result in power and torque loss.

Icemark is 100% correct here guys!
I went for about a year and half with having screwed stuck actuators. I finaly rebuilt the LIM and added in my own activation means. Very awesome now that I got that low end torque back...
