in my n/a i couldnt chirp in 2nd but i could feel the tires spinning. It didnt make any noise because the tires were bald and hard.

After doing donuts or a brakestand i could chirp them in 2nd easily because the tires were hot which made then grip more.

The only way i think new tires wouldnt be able to chirp is if u lowered the air pressure so it was a better grip on the road.

some one please explain.
Better tires=more traction

traction=no chirping.

EDIT: Hot street tires does not equal better traction. Street tires almost NEVER grip better hot then the do at normal operating temperatures.

Talking

I've chirped 3rd a couple of times. First time I didnt even mean to, I was accelerating normal (which is kind of hard compared to others) and chirped 3rd. I looked at my friend in the passengers seat and said "WAS THAT ME?!?!" it was great...a proud moment for a new ReX owner

Soft or weak shocks, how fast you let the clutch out, or not having a LSD could make it easier to chirp.
If you have narrow tires, it might help. Not sure about that one. More lbs/psi at the contact patch, not sure.
Besides, I have a parrot that chirps constantly. Squawks, too, but not as much as my wife!

You guys who are getting off on consistent hard launches and deliberately trying to chirp your tires through all the gears as you possibly can, I would advise you NOT to do that since it will tear up your differential mount at the front (drive shaft/ diff).
That thing is a BITCH to change. Mine tore completely off . Can you say " drop the diff.?"
After I changed it , I found that they make polyurethane
bushing for the diff. That sucks.
You guys having weird thumping sound from the rear, check it.

I had a weird thumping from the back end and it turned out to be that diagonal link with the tie rod type ends.

Well my T2 engine while in third gear (without touching the clutch pedal!) at 6000rpm @ 76mph "chirps" all the way to 8500rpm @ 108mph leaving two black lines on the road.

1.5bar boost @ 580+bhp help to "chirp" the tires

First things first.... your '80 was not an FB, it was an SA...

Second my '80 when it was bone stock could chirp all shift up to and including 4th gear... later I could spin the 2-3 shift (and this is with only 130hp!) if the track wasn't perfect.

On the street going to WOT on anything but straight dry road was not something you wanted to do And that's only 130hp....

I could chirp my tires on 3rd on my $300 86 300ZX daily driver and it has 225-60-15 tires anytime. when you chirp your tires it means no power transfer to the ground/loss traction and the Honda next to you gets a change to get one step infront of you..

If you want to break traction, just drive in the rain... on my completely bald tires I use to have, the wheels would spin at every gear, even fifth - and that was definitely not on purpose! I'd rather have good tires and an intact rear end then tire chirp.
