Chirping 3rd

Since completing most of my power mods and tuning on the '87 N/A I am now able to chirp third gear…at around 6500rpm. First car I've owned that was able to do that. I just wanted to know if this is "normal" for the FC. My '80 FB could only chirp second.

I could chirp third when I had **** tires and they were bald. Now 2nd is the only chirpable gear. For now anyway...muhahahaha. Hey rxse7en..how do you like that corksport exhaust ?? I am seriosly considering buying it, but never actually heard from anyone that had it. How does it sound?? And look??? If you had any pics of it on your car, if yous post em or PM them to me thatd be really great.

I chirpped third in my TII last June on the drag strip. The clutch was only 3 months old at the time though.

I've got a stock clutch, it's not particularly new. It squawks easily in 1st and 2nd. Third is a bit harder, but it seems to be more about how hard you drop it and your timing of gas & clutch. I can squawk going into second on an '87 Colt (55hp!), but that's a bit harder.

Well, if I put my crappy tires back on, I can light them for about half of 2nd gear, and chirp 3rd. But since I actually have really good tires on the back now, I can barely chirp 2nd. Just grips like theres no tomorrow.

I can chirp (*read: weave left and right like there's no tomorrow* ) 2nd and 3rd with brand new ContiSportContact tires only if the road is somewhat bad, and I have an almost stock '92 TII

Things will be different today afternoon after my DP and catback are in

I can beat you all! I can chirp 4-5! (After down shifting from Fifth).

I can easily chirp 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, but not 4-5 yet. I am having problems with boost creep when the second stage shot comes on, even with a ported S5 wastegate. I can't keep the second stage going in fourth long enough before creeping to get to a redline shift.
60+100 nitrous kicks pretty hard when used at the same time though....
Wait until I get some injectors and an EMS... and a FMIC... and a Turbo unit.... and a T56.... and **** it never ends.
Hey, maybe I'll be able to chirp 5-6 too!

Anyone chirping 4-5?
Sean

Uh, why the big fuss about this?&nbsp You wanna do this consistently, find the cheapest/hardest tires you can mount on the rear rims and do this all day long.&nbsp There are too many variables on this, and getting more power will definitely add to the possibility.&nbsp If you wanna show off your new-found skills on the street, I'm sure the general public out there don't really care, but you will surely get the local law enforcement's attention.

RETed, For me it was knowing that the mods and tuning I did actually had some effect on power gains. As the new tires go on today I will be seeing the end of my third gear chirping.

Wouldnt grippy tires make it easier to chirp the tires??

in my n/a i couldnt chirp in 2nd but i could feel the tires spinning. It didnt make any noise because the tires were bald and hard.

After doing donuts or a brakestand i could chirp them in 2nd easily because the tires were hot which made then grip more.

The only way i think new tires wouldnt be able to chirp is if u lowered the air pressure so it was a better grip on the road.

some one please explain.

on radials I can chirp 3rd and keep them spinning. Unleash a hard dump of the Giken twin plate and the world is yours. I never do this on the road becasue there are too many people in Tokyo.
and the fact that my 7 is not registered for the street helps alot.
