cheepest place for full rebuild kit

like the title states my motor took a dump on me(water seals) im looking for the cheepest full motor rebuild kit. thanks

if you blew a water seal you will probably need an iron too. what brand are you looking for? oem?

I got mine from Rotary Aviation, cheapest one I could find. ~$550 for the basic rebuild kit, you reuse your side seals, corner seals and metal oil control rings. You'll also have to buy the front cover and water pump gasket separately unless you somehow don't damage them.

itswill you have a pm, im trying to make a super budget rebuild. i would like to reuse as much of the motor as possible. i will keep this thread going as i pull the motor in the next few days to show the condition of the housing and irons. thanks

pull the apart and spec out every single thing before you decide what parts you are going to replace.

I was not all that happy with the RA kit. all the soft seals are just thrown in a bag and it's hard to tell them apart. you pretty much get what you pay for, although I like the RA super seals for high boost applications.

I say that because I would have saved money on my build if I had not bought the rebuild kit immediately. I ended up losing some orings and crap because to an inexperienced eye they all almost look the same and they're just thrown in a bag... many have almost the exact same diameter with a slight difference in thickness. This is very problematic for someone who doesn't build engines frequently. For example, trying to tell a front cover o-ring apart from say an oil filler pedestal o-ring when they are all thrown in a bag can be difficult.

Make a spreadsheet with all the parts you think you need. Go on Mazdatrix, they have basically everything if you want to go OEM on some stuff. Some stuff is better off from Mazda and some stuff you can go aftermarket with. It's up to you. Yeah that process takes longer but if you lose parts, or just buy a kit thinking it has everything you need when it doesn't, you will still have to wait for that one stupid gasket or seal.

^very true. where is a good place to find the specs to the housings and irons so i can spec them out when its taken apart.

Damn you agent Smith! If you buy a cheap rebuild kit, just put all the gaskets on a peice of paper folded out. Then mark down which one's which or match it up, if you have no experience.

hey man what color is ur car im usually in jax at sonics and at phillips doin the nasty lol! i have a black t2 but havent taken it there in a while as my motor took a poo so im swapping another one now. oh yea sorry for the b.s. in ur thread

www.rebuildingrotaryengines.com . also get a Haynes manual, I think it has some rotor housing specs that aren't in the FSM (like a spec for wear on the edge of the chrome surface)
