I have an intermentent Limp Mode. Revs are limited to about 2100.
No check engine light. No engine codes. I am pulling the ECU now. To look at it.
There is oil in the MOP feed lines.
The Limp Mode activates under accelleration, you almost go through the windshield, if under heave accelleration.
I am reading all the MOP posts on the Forum.
I have not found the motor on the FSM which I have down loaded from Fc3s.org.
The Manual shows the plugs. Where is the MOP Position Sensor? FSM shows a seperate plug...see above

Limp home mode without error codes is interesting.

The car is new to me. The only code it had when I got is was O2 sensor, which had been replaced. The code was not cleared.
There are no codes now.
I presume that it is a limp home mode. Since rev's are limited and it continues to run. After awhile it starts running fine again?

Hi, I am experiencing some dramas with my 89-92 TII RX7 engine. I am in Australia, where we call this model the series 5. The engine is actually in a 80-83 (series 2).
I am using the stock ECU and have removed the electric OMP, and installed a 4 line manual pump. I have used 2 1.5 kOhm quarter watt resistors to simulate the position sensor, and 4 22 Ohm 5 watt resistors to simulate the pump. I cooked half watt and 1 watt resistors, so the 5 watts are necessary.
This prevents production of any error codes, but I can almost set my watch by the regular 10 minute cut out of the engine. I will not rev over 2500 RPM, and will not return to normal until I turn the engine off and start it up again at which time it runs fine (and goes very well!)again for another 10 minutes.
I am not certain the cut out / limp home mode is related to the OMP, but it seems it could be by reading the above posts. Are these symtoms similar to those experienced by others?

If somebody can give me some info on the signal on the green/black wire in the flat 3 pin plug to the position sensor, I might be able to use the signal to the stepper motor to trigger the simulator at the right times and at the right frequency. Looking at the wiring diagram I am guessing that it will be a sine wave centred around 1 volt, but may stop at various times (lift off throttle?).
Should be able to use a 555 timer triggered from the stepper motor drive, but need some info!!!
