Check engine light comes on when i let my foot of the gas??

My check engine comes on when I let my foot off the gas. Once I give it gas it goes off any clues?? TPS maybe or 02 sensor?? If so how do I adjust?

Intake air temp sensor is located in the intake manifolds.

Pull the codes, and let us know what code is stored.

Sounds like a TPS issue!

You have a 90 (series 5). There is no need to have anything to pull codes from the ECU, you only need to ground the green connector by the battery (it's a single green female). Do that with the car off and the ignition key out. Now presuming your check engine light works all of the time (mines iffy at best ), go and turn the key to "on" but don't start. All of your idiot lights should light up. Good. Now wait 10 seconds. The C.E. (check engine) light should disappear. Once it does, it should start flash out code. How to read it? Long flashes indicate 10, short flashes indicate 1.

so, if you get:

Long, short, short, short =13

Long, long, short = 21

It will cycle and if you have more than one noted error it will cycle both.

IE 13, 21, 13, 21, 13, 21

It does give a few seconds of a break in between displaying multiple codes.

Let us know what the number you get is, or do a search for (codes ECU) and find the instructions that apply for the 1989-1991 model years.

In all likelyhood, it IS your TPS. Mine was doing the EXACT same thing before it just got worse and worse (the TPS that is)....

i also used to have this problem. it happened after i got my RB headers on. For me, it could have been 0xygen sensor? But I know I installed it in the presilencer correctly, so who knows? Maybe TPS, because I did have a bad idle.

I have this same problem on mine. It kicks in when it is warmed up. I get a bit of jerking here and there and when I pull the codes I get the narrow and full codes for the tps. Something like 12 and 18. I have tried my best but I can't get **** for resistance out of it. I wonder if it isn't broken. Any ideas.

Remove and hose down with a cleaner made for electronics boards and LET DRY...if that doesn't work, new TPS...
