Angry check engine light

Ok so i'll be driving along... check engine light comes on. So i go pull over... turn my car off... start it up again... check engine light is off now. So i drive along for another 20-30 mins and it randomly comes on. Please keep in mind that i was pretty much coasting home i didnt feel like driving fast. Anyone know what the problem could be or what I should do? By the way its a s5 tII.

Pull the codes it only takes a couple minutes and an s5 doesnt even need a code checker, just ground the test plug and get a piece of paper and pencil.

if the check engine light stays for more than 1 sec, it counts as 10
one short bleep, and that counts as one. it goes thru all the codes then starts over

so 31 would be ----- ----- ----- -

Yea you might have to watch the blinking codes for a couple of cycles. Once you start noticing repeating codes you'll know when the cycle is over. Just sit there with a pen and paper and make notes of what you think you see and keep going over all the codes until you are sure you got them all.

When it starts looping through the same ones over and over.

Then, after you fix the problem(s) you have to erase the codes. Disconnect the negative battery cable for at least 5 seconds....that's what I do on my S5 N/A..

A long blink is a 10, two long blinks is 20, three blinks is 30.
A short blink is one, two short blinks is 2, etc.
when the engine light finishes with a code it will pause, stay out, for several seconds before giving another code or repeating the only code it has stored.

Try it and you'll be able to figure out the codes and when one code has been sent and when it is finished and starts repeating the codes. I usually count for at least a couple of cycles to besure I counted correctly.

Good luck

After fixing the problem(s) and erasing the codes, check for them AGAIN to make sure you really did fix any issues.
