charcol canister removal

when removing the charcol canister...or, should you even remove it? according to the FSM, the purge valve actually vents crank case and fuel vapors into the intake, and fully vents them with WOT, in essence, enrichening the air with a combustable vapor.

i assume the fuel vapor would be a +, but what about the crank case vapors as well? that too is combustable, no?

i dunno, i guess i'm just asking if when removing the emmissions, should one leave the canister and it's set up?

If you remove it, you tend to smell gas under hood on warm days.

It only weighs like 2 lbs... I never see the point of removing it.

i noticed that mine is removed... and i'm curious if i should leave it that way. i would say... its sadly taped closed(electrical tape). i can hear it wheezing once in a while. good or bad? i'll probably get some clamps on it soon.

depends on where your fuel tank is venting now. If you do plan on removing it, you should put some kind of breather/filter on it... again, it's not a performance advantage in any way, only a couple pounds.

i'd think that if the vapors didnt fill the canister too quickly.. as in, i wonder what the rate the fuel vapors actually come out the end of the hose at, i could just bypass the canister, and route the house straight into the intake, as long as it wouldnt fill the intake too much when not being driven. i figure i'd have a slight spike at idle as it burned the collectd vapors, then it would just suck the newer vapors just as i drove.

and watch what happens to your gas tank when you start putting a vacuum too it every time you lift throttle.

are you saying that the gas will burn more gas? if that's the case, then solonid it for when the 6 ports open. free injector.

but i doubt that, because it's only taking the vapors, not the liquid.
