Changing out an 87 pri. Fuel rail for a 90
I have an 87 fuel rail with a leaky pulsation damper. I have read around that you can convert to a 90 fuel rail with a better damper. So I got a hold of one. Now, the two rails look the same except that the PD is on the other end on the 90 rail, and the fuel lines dont matchup. Anyone ever done this conversion? If so, can I get some tips?

I just did my 87 TII. There are 2 versions of the 89-91 primary fuel rail. One version has the pulsation damper on the side facing the firewall. The other version has the pulsation damper facing the front of the engine. The differences between the 2 are that the one with the pulsation damper facing the front of the engine is for an NA engine. The other one is for a TII. You got the wrong version. Trade it for the correct version. If you can, get the set of bolts used to mount it, they are different from the 86-88 bolts. Also, have some injector fuel line available, new hoses will have to be cut, the lengths are a little different (fuel supply and primary rail - secondary rail). I've got a spare NA rail if you need it - didn't fit my TII!

If Irv does not take you up on the primary fuel rail for the turbo, I desperatly need one for my spare engine. Its has been destroyed by a fire. That one I took apart and displayed on the thread that deals with PULSATION DAMPERS. Sell it to me IRV. Cheap would be a good price.

Okay, you two figure it out amongst yourselves. Basically I have a TII 89-91 fuel rail, which apparently is worthless to me. I paid $30 for the fuel rail, which isnt really even an issue, since all I need is a N/A replacement. I will send it to either of you, free of charge, in exchange for a N/A 89-91 Pri fuel rail. Let me know. The sooner, the better, since I havent been able to drive my 7 for a while, and I am having withdrawl symptoms.

I'm certainly talking primary fuel rail for a turbo that has the pulsation damper on the aft end. Short **** fuel rail for the primaries. The secondary fuel rail has that fuel pressure regulator on the aft end(turbo model). The n/a secondary fuel rail has its fuel pressure regulator on the aft end. I think we're talking the same thing. I sure do need that thing. Why any day now I'll be putting that engine in the car (been rebuilt since August, talk about procrastinating).

Actually, the N/A secondary has the pressure regulator on the forward end of the Rail. The N/A primary has the PD on the fwd part of the rail too. Hence my dilemma. The TII has the PD on the aft end of the rail and I need an N/A one. I was hoping to drive my 7 this weekend but it looks like thats not gonna happen...Oh well. I really didnt specify what type fuel rail I needed so its my fault. IRV, where are ya?
