^^That is great.^^
On a side note. Didn't Porsche make a CF 911 unibody for a racing concept or something. All I remember is seeing it at the Chicago Auto Show about 5 years ago and the weave was absolutely PERFECT!

If money isn't an object then check out Feed and RE Amemiya. I know that Feed has CF doors and body panels for the FC. I think RE does, but I'm not sure on that one. The only problem is going to be the rear quarter sections. I don't remember EVER seeing those done in carbon. www.takakaira.com would probably be the place I would start looking. Best of luck bro.

there are a few companies in Japan making CF doors, hoods, front lips and fenders, sunroof panels and CF rear-hatch assemblies. add a CF wing and some CF race buckets and you'll have the overpriced FC of your dreams
the CF parts you want DO EXIST... but you will need to source them from Japan, have fun with shipping costs!

I thought my 7k quote was very reasonable. For 7k we will do the entire car. For 7k from the Jap companies you might just get fenders and a hood. Not to mention it will be the cheapest single dot CF know to man. They are historic to use crap material that gives a finished product looking like you bought it at Pepboys.

Don't get offended ViciouS, it's just that this entire forum has seen a lot of kids get excited over their cars and try to open up a business only to end up taking people's money and then closing down. Not that you are a kid or that you would do that, but that is why a lot of people act the way they do. I don't blame them a bit.

I dont get it you dont want to make a car with a fake apearence but you're ok taking an expensive product and applying it in a completely worthless way to completely defeat the purpose of the product? If I saw a shop do what you want to do I would laugh and take my money else where.
From this class I am in I am learning that just because something is made from carbon fiber in no way implies that it is strong or light. Assuming so is what spawned the term "black aluminum"

Have you ever seen a video of an Indy car or F1 car being crashed tested? At 160mph the front nosecone section only pushes in maybe 8-10 inches There are different methods of making Carbon bits, pre-preg being the strongest and lightest. You can stand on a pre-preg hood while it's on a car and it will support your weight. (providing you're not a huge fatty )Also Carbon dissipates heat better than metal, if you feel how warm your alloy or steel bonnet is after a good hard drive you will know it's pretty hot.

Sorry no. The energy dissapation during a crash is acchieved by kevlar layers not carbon layers in a composite car chassis. Yes prepreg material can deliver the highest performance since it contains the optimal percentage of resin but for composite products the materials used in a lay up only create the potential for good final properties of a part. The process of manufacturing used to create the part has the largest effect on the part's final properties. So you could make one part out of glass well and another crappily out of carbon and the glass part will out perform the carbon.
Carbon is an okay conductor of heat (better than steel worse than aluminum) but carbon isn't on the suface of a hood. Epoxy resin is. Its a good insulator. The reason the hood stays cool is because it isn't transfering heat from its underside. Its keeping all that heat in the engine bay.

You need to check out OO Parts International.
Go to http://www.ooparts-international.com/index.htm click Products and then By Brand, scroll down to OO parts on the brand menu and scroll till you see the carbon dash, doors, and door panels, all of which they do have for the FC.
Hope this helps, sometimes that's hard to come by.

ok here's an idea. Get as many Cf body panels as you can find. everything else that can't be found reproduced in CF, laminate in CF then have a far away shot of the car and some close ups showing the REAL CF panels only so it looks like the whole car is made of that stuff. also replacing all avalible panels to CF would be functional after the commercia/ add whatever. Then paint the whole thing, upgrade the motor, strip (or replace with lighter) interrior peices. and sell it as a superlightweight autocross king FC. Remember guys, he is using it for advertising, real rules don't apply in all areas. Also when the add is done and if you don't want to sell it, paint it and have a really light daily driving Rx7.

like I said before we could do this just like all the big sponsers show cars you can see at ever NOPI event. Also you do not have to use that fake CF sticker stuff. We would use real 2x2 black 8.9 oz twill with 6 coats of clear and that thing would looks sweet. My only problem with this is it would be on a stock body kit that might look kinda gay especially if it was a s4 front end. Now if you want to deliver the car with a GP sports knock off kit we can install that and when you get it back it will be sweet. I have not heard back from the originator of this thread so I am guessing that its just a pipe dream.
