Centerforce clutch?
#3
same here, a DF on my NA for 4 years without problems...many people here hate centerforce - proper installation is really necessary, I broke mine in for about 200 miles before I started with hard shifts.

i drove a honda with a ceterforce dual friction (so i cant vouch for one on an rx7) but i recal it having tremendous clamping force with the same linearity as a stock clutch and only a little more effort. im probobly going to get one when my oem clutch finaly gives out. i'd think the dual friction would be best for someone with either lots of mods and power or plans on doing autocross/roadrace because it doubt it would slip enough for a good drag launch on a stock drivetrain.

I got the Dual Friction in my FC NA and I lot it. It grips damn good and as others have said not much more stiff than the stock one. Definatly a good choice for a performance clutch. Also i only paid $100 for mine new so I'm not complaining.

Sounds good, just like they advertise, more clamping force, less pedal pressure.
Why wouldn't it be good for drag launch, is it that difficult to slip? Is the dual friction bad choice for a daily driver?

so what's so difficult about installing it? Why would mechanics have a hard time installing it? I would be installing it myself, so if anyone has some pointers/installation tips, it would be very helpful.

NA guys keep complaining they can't get better than a 2.5 60', but your posts blows that away.

centerforce II
I just got a centerforce II for my S5 Non-turbo off of mazdatrix.com. It was cheaper there then on centerforces main web site!!! Haven't gotten it yet but can't wait to put it in!!!

if you mess with the weights before installation the release bearing, i think, will not seat in it right causing the clutch not to work right.
My pedal pressure increased on mine considering after I put in my DF the master and slave cylender blew up and the line also.

It would be a great clutch for street/strip driving. but it does slip with my 270hp turbo motor with an na tranny on it, but that is to be expected. Overall I have abused the **** outta my tranny and clutch. Both are showing wear, but still working well. I say that for an NA it would be great even for a street only car.

i would not reccommend a centerforce, act all the way.
had a new centerforce dual friction on my car (description in sig) and without shifting hard or donig anything to speed-up it's wear the clutch surface FELL APART in the transmission causing the transmission to always be engaged which left me in a difficult situation to get it home. nothing was installed wrong at all, the disk surface (3/4 of it) simply ripped and fell off the disk. so i swapped to an ACT S/S and one of my dumbass friends literally SMOKED the clutch maknig more smoke then a burnout and i can still launch the car perfectly at 4250rpms after that.
oh and i got the ACT clutch disk for like $125.
kevin.

I had a CFDF clutch in my NA with mods below and eventually had to remove it because it was slipping. It only had about 10k miles on it too. On the other hand, my friend has one in his turbo wich is putting 300+ Hp at the wheels and its not slipping at all. Go figure...

act hd p.p. and 6 puck disc
i have a 1990 t2 with almost 325rwhp.
i use act. i have dropped/side stepped the clutch a 4500 rpm(1st gear standing start) with very little if any slip. i also had kuhmo ecstas on the car. pirellis suck!
