C'eche Hot Start Problem Series 5 NA auto
Hey guys, i have been searching the forum all night (yes it really says posted at 4 am) and i still can't find anything useful that i have not checked. My car is a '90 NA automatic (yeah, yeah, i know i have the 5-spd. sitting in the garage). My motor has a good 500 miles on it (just rebuilt), and it is having problems starting. I bought it off a friend of mine that had his motor rebuilt by someone on this forum last year, and it's been sitting. I attempted to replace the injectors with "known good ones," but after the replacement, the car would not start, so i swapped the old ones back in. HAILERS, i know you know your stuff, so any help is greatly appricated; i have a nice 20 grand snap-on box at my house with every tool at hand, just need some diagnostic procedures. any suggestions are greatly appriciated. this is my first series 5 so i'm a bit unfamiliar with the intake setup and vacuum lines.

On a series 5, you don't have to give it gas to get it started. They are hard to flood, not like the series 4. The fact that it only has 500 miles tells me there is a posibility that the seals haven't settle. If this is the case, once they settle it would be better.
I assume it starts however, that you are having a hard time starting it. Does it idle? If a seal is chipped, the car will be hard to start. It will start but won't keep idle. A compression test will tell you if this is the case.
Will the car start if you use started fluid? Will it stay running? Are the plugs good? How is the timing?
Remember there are 3 basic thing the car needs to start: compression, fuel and spark.
Perhaps if you tell us more about what it is doing (other that it is hard to start), more people will chime in.
