Cat-Back system

I have an 88' GXL. I currently have a stock maniflod with a racing beat downpipe and a high flow cat mated to an older HKS sport system. I have recently been told that the cat-back system wasn't made to fit my car. What is the best system out right now for my car?? Should I purchase a brand name or have the muffler shop custom make one for me?? Thanks for all the help and advice..

If the catback system is "working" with your car I don't see the need to change it. Have you had any ill effects with the current catback?

Chances are what your friend means is that it's meant for a turbo car. Meaning it's slightly larger in diameter, and slightly higher flow. No harm in keeping it, if it sounds good.

It sounds really good. As for problems, I have had various rattling sounds and knocking noises but nothing too serious. Is there a better performing system out there?? Thanks for the help,

Jimmy

If it rattles or knocks that means it's loose somewhere. But as long is it looks like it came from an FC of some sort, it's all good. You won't find too much performance difference in your cat back... most of the performance gains are to be had with a header/presilencer or downpipe/presilencer depending on other configurations, or with true duals.

If the catback fits, wear it.

hahaha

Anyway about the rattles, tighten all hangers and "joints" (where sections meet together, like dp to cat) and see what happens. **** can come loose!
