Question cars runnig very rich at idle and then dies

I have a 89 s5 with a jspec engine. my problems is that my car cranks over and sometimes is starts most of the time it doesnt. but when it does it smokes a bunch it smell like gas il would idle for about 30 secs and then i dies and when i try to crank it over again it does not even start. i check to see if it has any vac leak, by spraying it with carb cleaner and i dont get any change in rpms. when i get the car to idle and i tap the gas it either dies or rpms go hell of low like 100 rpm. im thinking that the ECT is not reading right and is sending the car into close loop at start up and it runs it very rich likes its doing. or a Very slow and lazy o2. any ideas you guys??????

it oculd be tps or maf, my 240 did the same thing when my MAF went bad. Try unplugging the maf and see if it keeps stalling out, if it doesnt do it then you have a bad maf.
