That surround appears to have the same hole for the stereo as the stock one...is that correct? I wanted one that had only the standard DIN hole so I could mount some gauges under it. Am I seeing that correctly?

Doesnt anybody bother to read the first post? There is going to be a cf panel I am including that will fill that space. But that panel is removable. And you will have to cut that panel however you want, and there wont be any gaps around the radio or anything.

Whoever it was that wanted the S4 without the hole for stereo unit, I'm with you. I'll take either, but if mazdaspeed7 will make the ones without the hole, that's my preference.

u guys talkin about the ones with out the hole, its basically gonna be like that, but with the plate that bolts in. mazdaspeed7 said there would be no gap with the plate in there. so its really no difference, plus its better if u decide to change your mind

Just to clarify, are you making a hatch cover for the trunk area OR the actual hatch with lexan?

A few days, with an overlap of a day or two.

Hatch cover. I believe Ive already answered this, its on the 2nd page. Im making the cover, not the hatch itself.

I would have to make a mold specifically for that. You would have to pay extra for the mold, unless theres a few more people whow ant one like that.
I guess mazdaspeed7 speaks for himself. I was just letting streetpower know that I was wanting what he wanted, if mazdaspeed7 would do it.

Call me a moron...(but don't let me find you), but I didn't know there was a difference between s4 and s5 shapes.
I have had both, and the only difference I noticed was that the s5 is made of rubber (won't crack) and the s4 is plastic.... the shapes look identical to me....
What's the diff??

The overall shape is the same. They are interchangable.

However the series 4 has a different vent set up than the series 5 and uses a different vent panel. The vent panel is slightly extended on the series 5 as well, while the series 4 vents and panel was much more closer and moulded to the Logicon.

The series 5 radio opening is also a little different. It is the same size opening as the series 4 without an AE or CD system. Of course on the series 4 radio openings there was two little removable trim pieces if you got the base radio. So the series 4 radios with AE or CD wouldn't fit into a series 5 car with the series 5 bezel.

and as you mentioned the series 5 also had a soft vinyl covering over the plastic, to hide any cracks for the plastic aging and to feel softer.
