Carbon Fiber fenders

I have been doing a fair amount of work with Carbon Fiber and Carbon Kevlar lately, and think I may be able to make replacement fenders for 2nd gens out of Carbon. I need a set of good fenders to try it with though. How intrested would you guys be, if I could do it? Also what would you be willing to pay? Anyone got any guinea pig fenders?!!Could maybe flare them too!

I don't know about fenders, but if you learn to make a good CF hood you'll probably make some serious money.

If you go to all the bother of FB or CF I would not just copy stock fenders, but instead make them a bit wider for 245mm front tires. I don't like the flat look the Mariah ones have from just extending the stock fender lines out. I like the ones RE Amemiya white FC2000 have that add a flat sided round arch slightly above the stock fender line.

yeah need some wider in the front so you can get some nice tires up there.

so you can put 245 or 255 in the front

Would'nt the fenders and such in carbon fiber break very easily?

it appears you are unfamiliar with the properties of carbon fiber. it is very strong and "dent-proof" it takes a lot of force to break carbon fiber and unless you break it it wont deform. carbon kevlar is even better because it is more resilient than plain carbon fiber and it is lighter, not to mention bullet proof.

Honestly, I havent been working with CF THAT long. I do intend to make an attempt at a CF FC3S hood, but mine has a different scoop on it, so it cant be the prototype. Believe me I know there is a samll fortune to be made with FC CF hoods! Being so much smaller, and needing less support, I think the fenders would be an easier initial accomplishment for now. I wonder why Mazdaspeed hasnt cashed in on a CF hood. He also works with CF. Anyway, right now I am just seeing how much intrest there is.

I want carbon everything. the fenders quarter panels. hood, moon roof, front and rear bumper covers. wheels, doors, everything. I don't care if it looks good, I am going to paint over it. I hate the look if CF on the car. I want a sleeper that is light as ****. hell I would even take a CF fuel tank. every thing that can be CF is going to be CF. I was going to start doing ti myself. but it is winter and cold as hell. plus last winter beat the **** out of my car so I only have one panel that is straight. the passenger door. every thing else has at least one small dent in it.

to make carbon fiber all you have to do is buy some yarn from the crafts store and then get the ashes out of someones fireplace. mix them together in some epoxy resin and vioula, carbon fiber.

but seriously, it isnt hard if you know about the properties of resin and CF but it is very... time consuming. it takes a lot of practice to make something look good and learning how to do it yoursefl without selling some products is more expensive than buying it.

weight of hoods

The weight of the hood isn't THAT much. remember 100lbs = .1 second 1/4mile or about 10hp.

a CF hood wont even save you 100lbs so I don't get the big deal over them. The $500 or more (however much a CF hood will sell for) could be much better put to other things IMHO.
