carbon build up
which makes more carbon build up, highway cruising or stop and go traffic? i ask this cause i recently moved far from work and school so i have long trip everyday. and it seems either which way i take it takes the same amount of time.

stop and go more likely.
because you are constantly going from rich(take off) to lean(decel) in stop and go traffic, when you are cruising on the freeway your computer can compensate much better and provide a better fuel mixture which burns more completely. i wouldn't worry much about it though, revving it up usually cleans up the combustion chamber so be sure to go out on the town every weekend.

I thought that carbon buildup was mostly, not all, but mostly from oil burnoff. People with premix have like perfectly clean combustion chambers, I would think mostly becuase the 2stroke oil doesn't leave a residue.

Stop and go traffic. Carbon buildup is mostly from incomplete combustion. Cold/short starts, short trips and stop and go are the major contributers. Cars that badly need a tuneup are a close second. And of course, if you're running way too rich (TII injectors in an NA, untuned larger injectors, etc.) then you're going to quickly build massive carbon deposits...
Honestly, people put WAY too much thought into carbon. As long as your car is in good shape, then a healthy carbon buildup is nothing to be concerned about. It's attempting to CLEAN that carbon out that causes problems, or buildups so extreme that seals start to stick.
