Car won't start!?!?
I went to start my 87 T2 the other day and i wouldn't start.
The motor sort of turns over, but sounds different.
I had a roadside assistance mechanic come and have a look at my car.
He checked all my fuses and things and said it looks like the fuel pump. He said he couldn't hear it running and that no fuel was coming out the exhaust when trying to start the car.
However, When my car is flooded and I pull out the fuel injector fuse and turn the motor over, it sounds much different than now.
Is he correct?
Why would my starter sound different if it is the fuel pump?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance
Daniel

Did he pull the plugs out and check them? Even pulling the fuse out is sometimes not enough to clear out the motor of fuel. I'd pull them out and check, if they're ok then wind the motor over on the starter and have a listen to the compression 'strokes' It's unlikely, but in the event of a blown apex, you can easily pick up the uneven sound that a motor makes when it's blown one.
The fuel pump wont make any difference to the sound the motor makes turning over.

My car isn't flooded now, I was just comparing the sound of the motor turning over now with what it sounds like when it is flooded and the fuel injector fuse is unplugged.
That is why I don't think it is the fuel pump.
Anyone got any other ideas?
