obviously you think im a joke. Im sorry im not mechanically inclined my father died when I was 3 so i didnt have much of a male role model growing up. my brother lived almost 600 miles from me and I live alone, in a new town. I know nobody, and I expected to come here and not get criticized. Never mind then. I will just take the 40 mile drive to go see a mechanic. Thank alot for making me feel even more stupid than I already did.

If you are serious then I appologize for making you feel bad. You need to get an owners manual and shop manual before you do anything else (including driving the car). You also need to drain the gear lube you put inthe engine, and put in engine oil (again 10W30 or 20W50- reading the FAQ for FC sticky thread at the top of this section as well as the owners manual and shop manuals should help you decided which weight).
If you are just jerking our chains, well ...Karma will get you.

We've all got to feel stupid sometimes to learn. Sometimes people have to make you feel stupid to hurry up the process. There are things you need to learn to own and operate a vehicle. Rotarys are even more picky about all these things, and generally shouldn't be owned by the non-mechanically inclined, let alone the mechanically inept. I am very sorry to hear that your father died when you were young, but I'm sure your mother knows to change the oil in her cars.

Look, all this is covered in the manuals that I have told you get look at. I will no longer answer these basic questions until you can post a scanned copy of the receipt stating that you have bought either the Haynes or owners manual.
If you don't even know the basics, I would highly recommend that you find a trusted mechanic to work on the car. If you continue down the path you are on, you're going to end up with a dead engine, and then get taken advantage of when you get it rebuilt.
Oil changes and the like are very basic.
As far as I'm concerned, this thread is over. The original problem has been solved.

Thanks Aaron for your support. Like i said, I will just drive to a mechanic shop and let them fix whatever I did wrong to it. Im sorry for wasting everyones time. I was hoping to at least learn some basics here but thats apparently not going to happen. I hope the mechanic doesnt walk all over me like you all did. Again, sorry for wasting your time.

It's not that it's a waste of time. The problem is that there seems to be a lack of some very basic knowledge. That's no big deal, because learning this stuff is fairly easy. Like I have said, the owner's manual has all the maintenance requirements, including oil changes. The Haynes contains more technical information, and is a great way to learn about the car. It's best to at least have a limited understanding of how things work so that you have some idea on where to start (and not make mistakes like putting gear oil into the engine....which by the way if you did, change it NOW).

You are correct Aaron. I dont really even know the basics. I can understand why you all are frustrated with me. Teaching me something is about as difficult as teaching a dog how to **** a kangaroo. Its more trouble than what its worth. I just called a shop about 40 minutes from here and I have to have the car to them at 10am. So, i better get moving. I will let you guys know what all is wrong with the car when i get back. Thanks

Well, My car made it about 10 miles out of town and I think its dead for good now. I was driving along 60mph and I started to smell something burning. I kept going and the engine made a loud squeeking noise and then started rattling. I looked at the gauges and the temperature was all the way up to the H. The oil gauge was way down (not all the way down) and then the motor just shut off. When I try to start it now, the motor spins but its real slow, and makes a loud squeeking noise. Luckily, a nice lady stopped and gave me a ride home. The engine is probably shot now huh? Why in the world would flooding an engine cause all these problems? It was running great! God this sucks. Thats the only car I have and I dont have much money. I surely cant afford to have a new motor put in it if its dead! If i cant figure out a way to tow it home im just going to have to let the impound keep it and buy a bike for now. THIS SUCKS!!

Adam87turbo2 would you want to buy this car since your in nebraska too? If you can get it off the highway within 24 hours its all yours for $100 -I now need money so I can try to get a moped or a bicycle. The car is in great shape other than the motor. There is no rust, paint is nice, no dents. I dont think ive seen one in nicer shape in quite some time. Let me know if you want it.

You should go back to that WalMart immediately and find that person. Take him up to his supervisor and demand that they fully cover the cost of a replacement engine. Clearly, this idiot knew that he was talking to someone who had limited knowledge, and he gave you advice that has killed your engine. That oil is WAY too thick to circulate properly, and you have likely spun every bearing in your engine.
You asked an employeet at WalMart what oil to use. He told you to use gear oil. Your engine is now dead. WalMart should be paying for it since his advice should have been to consult the owner's manual (or he should have looked it up).

^^good advice, but Walmart's usually a bitch. My friend had a hell of a time getting a new engine out of them. He had his oil changed at one with a shop, and they put the wrong filter on (which just fell off) and ran dry and siezed.

I think I'm addicted
i wonder if the car can RUN with 80w90 in it.... because i remember even in the winter using 20w50 made the car seem more sluggish.....
after a couple runs, that car should die....

No way a rotary would even have any oil; if you use even a most conservitive 1 qt every 3k miles.

The car is sitting on highway 6, east of Hastings. I live in Clay Center. If you want the car, Let me know here. You are free to go look at it but its HAS to be moved within 24 hours. DO NOT open the doors. I didnt lock it and I dont want anyone getting in and taking anything. Drive by, and if you like it let me know asap.
It would be such a long drawn out process to make Wal Mart pay for damages. Thats not going to help me at all right now. I need to get back and forth to work. He didnt say specifically 80w90 oil. He told me to use the highest number oil because it was thicker. So, i picked this out. I didnt know it was for transmissions.
