Car Wont Run
Ok, I will start up where we left off on the other one. I pushed the gas pedal all the way down and turned the key. It started up, and revved really high. It made a funny noise and it quit running. it still spins over, but wont start. Please help!

1. Check to make sure it's not flooded. Do a search for "flooding" to get info.
2. Make sure you have no huge vacuum leaks. Disconnected hoses, cracks in the black intake tube, etc. Very common cause.
3. If both those check out, then you will have to check the throttle to make sure it's not physically stuck open.

As mentioned before.....
My car doesn't start
"Remember when starting a fuel injected car you should never pump or press the accellerator pedal, but if it won't start it is probably flooded, Hold the accelerator pedal all the way down while cranking, do not pump the pedal. If it still doesn't start after a few tries, Then remove the EGI fuse and crank a couple more times, then re-install the fuse and try starting again. If then the car still fails to start it then you need to remove and clean the spark plugs, put in a teaspoon of ATF into the lower sparkplug holes, re-install the spark plugs and try again. Make sure you change your oil after you have started and run the car ASAP."
Flooded = too much gas in the engine to even start.
EGI fuse = under hood on driver's side, already covered in the other topic
I wouldnt worry about taking out the spark plugs if I were you; dont seem to be mechanically inclined. Just try starting it without the fuse then with it etc a few times, it may be badly flooded.
And if you really dont know anything about cars, I would suggest taking your car to a mechanic for a basic tune (provided you can get it started)... seeing how it hasnt had one since you've owned the car.
PS here is the very basic idea of how your engine works:

Ok I will go shut it off and see if it starts again. This Haynes Manual. Where do I get something like that? There are no part stores in my town, and I dont feel comfortable hitting the highway to go to the parts store with my car acting up. Could you at least tell me if there is a way to check the oil. Maybe that way i could tell you what it looks like and you could tell me if it needs changing. It hasnt been changed in at least 4 years because thats how long ive had the car. The only service i have had done on the car is brakes fixed, and the sunroof quit working and i had that fixed. My car is in near mint condition, so I guess i should take better care of it.... Thanks guys

someone just told me today that the oil needs changed ever 5k miles... God i dont even want to think how many miles ive put on the car since the last oil change. Probably 30-40k. Do you think that has something to do with my car being "flooded"?

The Haynes can be ordered through any book store. Or if you can't find it locally, there are always copies on eBay. The Factory Service Manual is also available for download (links in the FAQ). It contains a lot more info, but is not beginner oriented.

30-40k... still running... if it didn't go 25-35k ago when it would have run out of oil... verify that your OMP is functioning. (OMP = oil metering pump (also MOP) is responsible for injecting that quart of oil over those 1000 miles it should take)

How can I check to see if there is still oil left? Maybe its all gone by now?? I will definately change it if someone will tell me how. I just looked at the title and it said it had 62k miles on it when i got the car. And now it has 86k. So i guess it hasnt been quite as many miles as I thought. about 24k miles and I have never changed the oil.
I dont know how to verify the OMP. If i can get it to where I trust it on the highway, I will take it in to a shop and have to tuned up.

How to check and fill the oil is covered in the owner's manual. Read it. If you don't have this manual, the Haynes and factory service manual have info on this.

Ok I called my brother and he told me how to check the oil. I pull the oil checker and it was all oily. He said to wipe it off, and stick it back in. I pulled it out again and there wasnt anything on it. there was a little on the side but none on the marks on the checker. How much oil should i put in it to get the oil on the marks?

here's a link to the total capacities of fluids in these cars. Add a little oil, check the dipstick, repeat until it gets to the top crosshatching on the stick.

Oh yeah, the guy at walmart said that the thicker the oil the better since i ran mine low. I got SuperTech SAE 80-90 - He said the higher the number the thicker. Is this good oil? it was less than $1 per quart!!

I am still not convinced that this is a real person with a real problem, but rather someone jerking our chains.
These two threads here; if true will follow the thread on the Honda guy sand blasting his cams by putting sand into the oil fill or the guy S2000 guy that put water into the oil fill to clean out his engine.
