Car very hard to shift into 1st and reverse?
Its an 89GXL. Its very hard...It shifts fine when the car is not on but when its on moving or not shifting in those gears becomes very difficult...By the way. I just put in a new clutch from RP becomes I slipped mine when I was racing and burnt up the hydraulics. Everythings fine now and clutch pedal feels good alone with the hydros. Clutch grabs strong. ??? thank u very much.

You have worn synchros, just like mine! Short of a rebuild, there's not much you can do about it.
Here's a tip to lessen the hassle. The problem is that the gearbox's input shaft is at engine speed, but the output shaft is stationary, and the worn synchos can't deal with the difference in speed like they're supposed to. Instead of pushing the clutch in and trying to stuff it into gear, push the clutch in and wait. After about 2-3sec the input shaft will have stopped spinning and it will slide into gear as smooth as... well, y'know!

my car doesnt like to go in reverse
i either put it in 1st and roll if forward like an inch, or pur in in 2nd then put it in reverse as fast as i can. that usually helps to avoid grindage

Do you have Redline in the tranny? That stuff is magical.
And my FC likes to make a grindy thunk going into reverse (even with the Redline.) My solution? I pop her into 5th and then drop the shifter back into reverse. Nice and clean - no fuss, no muss.

No synchros for reverse. Just wait 'til the tranny is ready for it.

But guys. My tranz was fine like before I slipped the clutch. It was running great...Then after I put the clutch in it fucked up. Saying this I dont think its synchroes or whatever. And I did put the clutch in and hold it for 3 sec. Even 5 seconds and it just doesent go in unless I move a little bit and keep retrying. ??
