Car stalls and floods while driving

Hello,

I am currently 350 km away from home and yesterday the my S4 NA FC just stalled while driving. I was in 4 gear cruising.
I put out of gear and tried restarting but it did not start.

So I parked it on the side of the road and opened the hood and checked for obvious things.
Every cable was in place and nothing seemed wrong. Tried to restart but it still wouldnt.

Just out of curiosity I did the deflood procedure (remove both fuses and cranking for 10 sec)
and then it started on the first crank ....

I had a similar problem few times ago, engine shutting down while driving but then it was not flooded and started right up. (That was a year ago)

What could cause such a behavior ? Actually it did not happen again, we are on the trip with 2 cars in case one breaks down, but this bugs me.
I have almost all the tools with me so in case ...

Help is greatly appreciated.
Steven

Hello,

thanks for your reply. The grounds should be ok, I checked them a while ago and made sure they dont bug me again.
With exception of the ECU point under the UIM. Pretty heavy to reach that sucker.
I redid also all the coil contact plugs before, cleaned them and put some anticorrosive on.
Also forgot to mention car got new plugs and wires/distributor&cap some months before. (eu version got dizzys)

Traveled 100 km today without problem. With exception of this issue I never had any problem with it. It seemed very strange, thats why I was confused.

Still open for any ideas that may come, to check out.

Thanks
Steven

Check the water temp sensor on the water pump (seems to be a lot of those potentially going bad lately)...if it's seeing a colder temp than what's there the ECU will dump more fuel in.
