Car stalled today for no apparent reason?
3 times tonight. Started the car, put it in reverse... backed out... (didnt release the clutch to the point it would stall either) and it just quit and stalled... I started back up - put it in first.. took off Not even 10mph and it stalls... WTF?
It wasn't on cold - so that clears one thing.

Well.. I'm pretty sure you'd beat me...
Anyway.. I'll see if the stalling still happens sometime later on today... Kinda freaked me out though... I dunno if it's something I did, or what...

Yup is true...
Everytime I fix a problem, a new one shows up. One problem I'm having now that I can't seem to figure out is my gas mileage. I'm not sure if you guys know some of the MRCCFL guys in Pcola (Brian Smith, Dale, Steve Forshee, etc) anyway they're trying to help find out why I'm getting such horrible gas mileage.
At times the fuel pump will read full - when it's empty it says empty on the gauage but it's not. Today I filled up all the way - said it was full..but when I started the car - the guage didnt go to the top.. .Who knows.. I'm waiting for this tank to end.. so I can get a better reading and see what the MPG is ...
While that was going on... i had a bad water pump I just replaced myself this past weekend. A pain... but problems just won't go away.

Could be the TPS, injectors, vacuum leaks, in need of tune up, or a few other things.
Start chasing it down, you will find the problem. One of my friends has had a bad clunking in the rear end of his '84 GSL, turned out to be loose bolts on the Watts Link!! It had been clunking for over a year now!!!
To check your gas mileage, IGNORE the gas gauge. The ODOMETER is the key. Fill it up, reset odometer. Drive for a good 75-100 miles (or more, doesnt matter). Then fill it up again and see how many gallons it took to go that many miles. Divide miles into gallons (or vice versa if you get a weird number, sorry )

Oh yeah, you have to write down how many gallons it took to fill it up, then subtract that from the amount it took to fill it again.

Check for an electrical short.. had a similar problem, where if I would touch any bumps on road, or start from a complete stop, it would just stall down.. if I was at a high enough rpm, it wouldn't die, but bog down way low when i hit a bump then pop right back up...
The problem for mine was my MAF box was rubbing against a wire, and it chewed right through, Everytime I hit a bump it would nail the wire and bog down..
also I had a simliar problem where my fuel injector plug wasn't plugged in securely.. and it would do something like that.. But the primaries are tough to get to,, have to take off upper intake, throttle body and such...
Just some possible ideas that may help you...
