car smells of gas
My car smells like gasoline when it's running. I thought it was because of broken exhaust, I got that fixed, and it helped some, but I can still smell some gasoline. I don't think the smell is coming from the engine. The smell isn't any worse when I open the hood. I've heard some stuff about the pulsation damper. I don't know what it is or where it is or how to check it.
the 02 sensor wouldn't have anything to do with this would it? mine is not connected to anything. (it's on the headers)
I've also heard that rotarys run rich, so I may not have a problem at all.

get your O2 hooked back up and look for the PD at the end of the fuel rail under the manifold if this is the problem your car WILL burn if you do not fix it. it is just a matter of time. Does it smell like raw fuel or unburnt fuel. Check your fuel lines, open your hatch is worse in the back? If it is worse in the back your filler neck might have a hole or slice in it. If you only smell it when running then that is probably not the problem

Also make sure the fuel pump is tightly sealed up. Trace the fuel lines under the car from the fuel filter to the tank and from the fuel filter to the engine. When the car is running gently squeeze the hoses and check for spraying gas. Mine had pin sinzed holes in them and squirted out gas slowly.
