OIL LOSS
I'm relatively new to the RX7 I own, but I can tell you that I was surprised that my 90 GTU NA non-turbo vert newly aquired burned one quart of oil in the first month that I owned it after an oil change and tune up. No leaks. I consulted the owner's manual for it, and read in that manual that the engine can consume up to 1 qt of oil every 500 miles depending on driving conditions (yes, vague) - and if everyone gets 250 miles per tank like I do - that would be a quart every other fillup.
Since this is my first sports car and I've already had a low coolant alarm and light go off, and burned that quart of oil, I keep a couple of 10w40s in the back plus an extra gallon of 50/50 premixed antifreeze appropriate for the car in the trunk at all times.
The RX in these two regards remind me of (gasp!) my Ford Rangers. When they get old they spring oil and coolant leaks and need to be monitored every fillup. I'm going to treat the REX7 the same way, with 126K on it.
