cant pass emissions

Do a tune up(incl oil change), get the car good and warmed up before you go so the cats are hot, run a hose directly from the air pump to the split air pipe (I've had good results with this personally).

I used to just run a bottle of alcohol in with about 2 gallons of gas... whomever posted 1 gallon of alcohol is crazy you will fail the test due to no reading on thier equiptment..
Thank God i live in A county that does not require testing.

Working Cat/ Air pump. I would recommend mechanical fixes VS cheap tricks. I dont think its really good idea to put anything in your fuel system besides fuel.
As previously mentioned, a full tune up cant hurt.
You can get the ACV to pump air into the cat all the time by removing the FORWARD UPPER vac hose, and capping it.
Got emissions here too; Chattanooga. Sorry.
Good Luck.

What did it fail on? Last time I failed emissions, I cleaned out some of those smog equipment components and it passed after that. Sometimes those things get full of crap and need to be cleaned out, right? Also, warming up the car is excellent. Never tried the alcohol thing, but I was gonna do it if I failed again. Do you have all your cats, etc. in place? There's alot of info on this if you search. I thought all 7's had a hard time with emissions?

not driving a 7 will for sure do the trick!! i love reading these threads. good ole indiana lets me get away with just about anything....
i recommend cleaning all your emmissions equip and making sure your air pump is running when the test is taking place.

yeah i live in franklin tn, near nashville, I failed by running 4x more than I should have. Where exactly is the air pump and everything. It was rebuild by mazda in 00. and it may not have been reconnected? Also I have a small exhaust leak but i doubt thats it.

Here is my thought on the subject. If you love your 7, you want it to run the best it can. If your 7 is running great, it will pass inspection. If your car is moddified, emissions removal, cat removal, streetport etc, then it is unlikely that a simple 'cheat' will work.
Fix your car, it will pass. You can get lots of coaching here. Do some searching. You need minimum of a tune up, a good catalytic converter and an airpump. If you do this it should pass.
Good luck!

Bonez high flow dual cats, airpump 02 sensor tune up, aftermarket magnaflow exhaust i pass smog with flying colors. I also used SEAFOAM to clean up carbon buildup then drove for 40 mins before going to smog.
