I had to cut the underside of my hood, so I guess I would have to do the same with this one... which is no big deal. Also, on your page, you have pics of the 13b-re mounted with your yellow motor mounts and it states that it is for a 20b as well and will clear the hood, but doesn't state if the 20b will clear. Has this been tested? If so, I'll probably pick up a set of your motor mounts as well.

Man those are beautiful. Someone said that they were going to paint theirs. I was under the impression that it looks bad when you paint them. whats up with that?

The 13B-RE fits perfectly under the hood in an FC because of the fact that we hand fit and weld the mounts while they are in the car. We made up a jig for them, but for some reason they didn't fit the way we wanted, so they are hand made in the car with the RE leveled to ensure a perfect fit every time. We haven't test fit the 20b with them with the hood. Since front steering work and or sway bar work is usually needed for that conversion, we haven't checked the hood clearance with that application. I honestly forgot to talk with Craig (my partner and the maker of those mounts) to see about sending you a set to test out for us, but I will revisit that with him and drop you an email or PM about it if that is still ok with you.

I am sure that he could do that as well, since the fabric is pretty much the same to lay from what I understand (I'm no expert on that though) I can find out if you are seriously interested.

Sad part is I'm broke until tax time, so I was just curious if it was thought about. Isn't kevlar more apt to bending/flexing without damaging as compared to fiberglass & cf?

Well, just a thought I followed a thread a while back about kevlar fenders which sounded quite interesting, and they were pretty durable and they could take some abuse without dings/etc like the metal ones we have now do, and then they were comparing it to cf & fg, and it turned out to be lighter, by how much I don't know, but *shrug* something to look at

Yeah Kevlar is the lightest of FG Kev and CF. But it is also the weakest, they flex realyl bad. I think that you coudl make some awsome fenders/door panels out of kevlar/CF hybrid cloth (kevlar and GF wover together) with a layer of kevlar on top to make it scratch/dent resistant.

No we don't do clearcoating. Any local body shop near you will do it though.
It isn't required, but it will look just like a painted regular hood from a showroom if you do. I plan on doing mine real soon.

Actually, I tried three local bodyshops, none of which would clearcoat my previous CF hood.
Wouldn't it look bad after it was sanded? Plus they all insisted on using primer, which would obviously make a CF hood useless. =/

They can be clearcoated and they will look just like a factory gloss coating. I will show you guys when I get mine done here real quick.
As for sanding it, it is the same process that body shops use to prep cars for paint. They rough up the surface basically to make a better surface for the clearcoat to adhere to. The clear will fill any scratches, or other imperfections so you can't see them and the surface is totally smooth and can even be waxed just like paint. Buffed too if you feel inclined.
Neofreak, I would just call around more. Maybe hit up a more custom shop that does speciality work. Clearcoat should be treated like auto paint. If you pay Maaco $199 for a paint job, and you pay a BMW repair shop $3000 for the same paint job on another car, which would you say will look better when done? Same applies to clearcoat. I plan to spend a few bucks to really make my hood like a show quality hood.

I think that some of the things that are said, and just given warnings over are rediculous. But that is just my take. I just have too many things going on to have to go through the hundreds of daily posts in the FC section (which is really the only place I go) just to see what is really informative, and what is another "you car sucks" or "SEARCH" posts. I have a forum to run and watch, and I post to the email lists and some other venues. I just realized that my time was better spent focusing on the more car oriented people, not the mini lounge FC section

That TII hood looks so good I am having a hard time deciding between it and a regular non scoop hood, i run a fmic. Would that be too ricey to run a stock TII hood on a FMIC TII car?
