I have an '86 GXL and i am trying to locate the "cpu 1” it is said to be by the drivers left foot. I need to find it in order to remove the little "beeping!!" sound when the key is in. and to do this, I was told to find the "cpu 1" and remove its speaker... but I have to find it first, and I just cant seem to locate where the sound is coming from! And I know about the speaker behind the speedo cluster, and it’s not that one.
So if anyone could help I would really appreciate it!

You need to remove the driver's side kick panel & the CPU is right behind it. I think it is just held on with one nut & the electrical plugs.
