Can I run a turbo II w/ no exhaust?
Dont hate me for asking this, but I just bought a jspec and spent every penny installing it. It has about 8 inches of downpipe on it and I went to start it up for the first time today, and it sounded almost like one of my spark plugs was out. Im hoping this is from lack of exhaust. I want to just start it up w/ out exhaust or a bov just to see if it runs, and if it does then drive it around mildly after the bov gets here. Will this hurt the motor? The sound I heard wasnt very shitty compression was it?? Please say no i dont want to take that thing back out! Thanks and sorry for the confusing post.

well.. do a compression test, that'll tell you your compression........ and, running with no exhaust will probably get your boost creep so far you dont want to know the results. !PoP!

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
It might very well have been poor compression. You can start it with no exhaust and drive it, just dont do any WOT runs or youll boost to like, infinity or something.
You need to check its compression, not just try to start it and guess what may or may not be wrong.
You should have done this the minute you got the engine home on the floor. All you need is the flywheel and one of the a/c compressor 12mm bolts to thread into it to use as a crank, do the poor man's compression test on ANY perspective engie you get BEFORE installing it. I have learned the hard way.
