Can I put a '84 13B into my '88?
hi everyone!!
i have a '88 NA w/ a blown motor, and found someone around my area selling a 13b from '84. i was wondering if you guys can give me a hand and tell me:
1) if it is going to be a straight swap.
2) if the 13b from '84 and '88 are the same (do they make the same power?)
that's all. thanks so much guys!!

If you just look at the two engines you can see that they are a little different. For fitting purposes, the 1Gen 13B has a different oil pan, but I'm not sure what else will be an issue. It is very uncommon to put a 1Gen 13B into a 2Gen car, but quite a lot of 1Gen owners put 2Gen 13B engines in their cars. I suggest posting in the 1Gen section to find out the differences that matter. You would need to reverse-engineer what they say, but I think you will get the best practical knowledge by asking them.
