going from s4-s5 is a litte bit mroe difficult then going from s4-s4. you got diff typs of MAF sensors and **** like that... ( atleast what i was told going from diff serieses would be a bitch. ) i kinda wish i would have gone s4-s5. but i staid s4-s4. i guess depending on your skill level with cars. its up to you.. maby someone can answer your uestion more theraly but all i have been told it would have been a bitch. but i was told doing a TII swap would be a bitch and it was REALLY easy.... besides the few questions i was kinda confused on. but people on the forum helped me out ..

Try to stay clear of Jspec engines, atleast from jspecauto that is. I ordered an s5 "complete" package from them and when i recieved it, the damn thing wouldn't even turn over. The apex seals were rusted to the housings. If u can go w/ an A-spec, IMHO if u really want a J-spec look into one from Corksport or a more reputeable company.

stock the s5 puts out more power with higher compression and higher stock boost pressure (i believe)... modded both are about the same.

Please read the FAQ regarding turbo swapping. It's all covered there in great detail.

Cross series swaps are a pain in the butt. Don't swap S5 stuff into an S4 (or vice versa) unless you plan on running as standalone EFI system. With a standalone, there are no problems. The S5 uses completely different electronics then the S4. Even the dash harness is different.

yea, i was gonna post those links^^^
Anyhow, I have read the stuff on rotaryresurrection.com (not that I completely understand it or anything, but it seems to me if you had the wiring harness and the ecu that the s5 swap would be pretty simple. I have an 88 gxl too, was thinking about a similar project, idk, or just get a turbo II?. and i wouldn't get the jdm engine unless you can get a gaurantee or warranty, even then you'd probably have to pay for shipping to make a claim for the engine and all, unless of course it's local. and your newbie smilies are pretty awesome.

if you want a good jspec engine, there's a seller on here by the name of Japan2LA. He has a lot of positive feedback and is a rotorhead himself, so SEARCH a little and you may find wonders.
