Can anyone indentify a turbo?

A friend of mine, who doesn't know much about automotive mecanic and stuff like that, bought a FC with a 13b-re w/ a single turbo setup. Problem is the jerkoff who was playing around with this car pratically did everything wrong. Broken bolts inside of vaccum hoses to cap them off and wires use from house lamps and **** like that.

Now we're not able to get a straight answer from this guy but, the engine is beeing rebuilt, and something, surely an apex went thru the hotside impeler. Now we sent it to a local shop here to get it fix, but im almost 100% that the shop is bullshitting me, saying that its a Chinese turbo with no name on it, no size no nothing. I'd like to know if anyone here, with a serial number, could identify this turbo?

Thank you

post a pic of this suspect turbo. without more details or pictures its very difficult to identify the turbo as there are a lot of manufacturers out there making turbochargers.

If the guy use cheap wires and bolts to cap vaccum lines, I'm pretty sure he used an Chinese crappy turbo. Its most likely though.

Probably an ebay piece of ****.

Worst part is that he works @ a mazda dealer as a mecanics. Theres metals screws all over the place and like I said, wires use for desk lamps.

I'll have the pictures by tomorow, I wanted to know if you guys though it could be indentified with a badge number. It could be a ebay ****, but it had a cast manifold... I thought ebay were cheap OBX style SS manifolds...?

If it has a metal badge, it'll really help!
If the metal badge says "Garrett" on it anywhere, it's a quality turbo.
If it says something like "T4 ROTARY" then you're screwed.

I trust a lot (not all) of Harbor Freight tools over ebay knockoff turbo components/setups
