As the title says. There is actually NO PROOF at all that the RevII exhaust increases the HP by up to 32%, I would love to see that proof.

I will buy the exhaust anyways, but Racing Beat is actually making a outrageous statement when they can't prove it, I would say, since no other car would get that much HP from only swapping exhaust.

Well, still doesn't prove it. I like to believe it, but I have grown a pretty big circle of friends who refuse to believe it without proof.

Dont have a sheet to prove it..
but before i got it tuned to 1bar, i ran stock boost with FMIC and this exhaust and i was running around 250hp.

So, yes, you can believe that its true

Believe most of it will come from increased boost, but realize that older cars converter tech was pretty restrictive as well.

Well if you consider how restrictive a totally stock exhaust with all the cats and stuff is then look at the racing beat setup it is quite an improvement.
As Rob said you can probably attribute some of that power to boost creep.

my s4 tii dyno.. just runnng wastegate boost, it creeped up to about 9psi and dropped to 6psi by redline, and was making 250whp at redine, at stock boost. only mods were full racing beat exhaust, rtek 2.0, bigger injectors, fuel pump, and fmic. the fuel mods are necessary with the straight exhaust because the airflow is increased so much.

that is about 90hp increase from stock at stock boost.. 50% increase. i would say RB estimate is conservative

Norwegians grow friends in circles?
How have I never heard of this?

We need proof of that before we believe you have friends

RB used to have a dyno graph in the catalog, they did get a T2 (in the 80's!) slap the exhaust on and dyno it, and put it in the catalog. the car they used was an S4 though, probably because the S5 wasn't out yet.

the other thing they had was a boost controller, they had a graph of stock boost vs DISCONNECTED WASTE GATE vs the boost controller

I know what blew my engine: No wastegate vac hose. Don't ever do that :P

Anyways, I would love to see the dyno papers, as it would also help RB boost their sales I guess.

As for the circles, the friend circle that I have that deal with cars doubt my numbers. The other ones are mostly bowling or computers, they do not care about horsepower! :P

Btw, Rtek 2.0 compared to the FCD, any words? Also, is it needed with any fuel mods on a stock S5 TII with RevII exhaust? As far as I know, the only thing needed is the FCD (or the Rtek, apparently, whatever that is)

Where to find info? Manufacturers name? I only find Star Trek when I google it for some reason lol

EDIT: Nvm, found it. I would guess stage 1 is enough then, as people say the price is just around 50 bucks more, that would equal to the stage one anyways. I will read more up on it, seems interesting.

Rtek is better/safer than an fcd. What are your plans for the car/ engine?

Its known that with the RB REV TII system, boost will be gained. Atleast by 4-5 psi over stock. Also, I am pretty sure some time ago, RB actually recommended a fcd of some type when installing their exhaust since the stock ecu will cut fuel to the rear rotor at anything over 8psi.

I know they recommend it but the Rtek does the same job as it does have a FCD in it.

But a separate FCD is much more simpler to install and work with from a stock standing point.

Hopefully this will make your friends a believer in what you say.
Having had the TII since new there were many articles, magazines, catalogs, etc. I've accumulated, so I know I have old Racing Beat catalogs, but came across this article in the 12/89 issue of Rotary Rocket magazine.

Dyno results from the HKS cat back and turbo back systems when compared to the OE system installed on a S4. May be hard to see, but the RWHP numbers are about 145 at 6000 stock, 150/6000 with the cat back and 180/5600 with the turbo back, but if you read the asterisk area, you'll see that they limited the boost to only 8.5 psi and stated that 9.5 to 10 psi would be available with the turbo back system yielding more HP. I purchased this system back in '88 for the '88 TII we owned at the time and it was pure junk when compared to the RB system. Never did an install as when it was received I called the company and had the charges reversed, and then purchased the '89 TII new.

At least the numbers speak for themselves.

That's very cool!

Question though, this is the dual muffler HKS system? Why do you say it was junk? [I've only seen pictures of it]

If you can scan the RB catalog I'd love to see that graph as well for comparison

Yes, it was the dual muffler system utilizing the fatcory exhaust hangers, but the entire system was made with inferior meterials, no where near the quality of the RB system. I remember the mufflers quite well as they were just wrapped metal spot welded on the bottom like a .50 can, and the Y pipe was just made of common metal meterials. Don't forget though, this was back in 1988 so maybe they changed materials, but it made a RB believer out of me as that system was constructed of far superior, quality components.

If I get a chance, I'll look for the RB catalogs of years ago, but I have books in about 5 different area.

Although many other components need to be addressed, an increase of 14 psi will double the HP, so if the S5 is 7.5 psi as an example and jumps to 11psi, end result would be 250 HP. This usually sitrs up a lot of controversy and isn't etched in concrete, but just to be used as a guide.

The claim is bullshit... I hate that type of advertising! You need supporting mods, or your car will run into fuel-cut. So at the very least you want bigger injectors and a FCD. This is the minimal. A better way would be other stuff like a pump with higher flowrate, FPR and very important; a tune!

Claiming the exhaust add 60HP (or whatever rusbish they market with), is like claiming the FCD does... It's just one of the parts needed to achieve to power increase.

Riz.

PS: Not hating on RB though, I like their products, and love the sound and look of the exhaust.

Turbonut >> Ahh.. That's too bad, I wonder why a company like HKS would cheap out..

Tofuman >> RB does clearly state that you MUST have an FCD or equivalent before running the REVTII exhaust?
