A/C noise

1987 N/A: I turn on the A/C and I hear noise coming from under the hood. I'm thinking bearings in the condenser. Is this anyhting that can be fixed, or do I replace the condenser?

There are no bearings in the condensr. The condenser is the unit that is in front of the radiator. When compressor is energized, the internals are spinning, not energized, the internals are stopped and just the clutch turns, and this means that normally the compressor is on its way out, but there can be other reasons why it is making noise.
