A/C compressor question

A/C compressor question
I just put a belt on my compressor to see if my a/c actually worked. I noticed a plug on top of the compressor ( black wire coming from the top with a white connector ) and noticed my harness ( out an 88 SE ) doesnt have a plug for it. The Haynes manual has a picture of the plug plugged into the harness but my harness has nothing for it.
I was wondering if theres a way to wire this switch so I can test out my a/c??

Did the SE have A/C? If not, then your 88 SE harness may not even have this wire. If that’s the case you’ll need to run a new wire from the correct pin in the connector you plugged the SE harness into. You’ll need to study the FSM wiring diagrams to figure that out.

That compressor is fed from the a/c relay hanging in front of the radiator. There is a switch on your drier, which is located in front of the radiator, to the right. That switch has to be made for power to reach the a/c compressor. What makes that switch? The pressure in the system. If the freon is low, the switch does not make, there fore no circuit to the a/c compressor.
I'll bet money that that single bullet connector is hidden in the harness below the battery. The wire comes from the relay that is in front of the radiator. Really scrounge for that connector. Black wire.
Or to see if the clutch works, just jumper that wire on the compressor to the positive post on the battery. Only proble with doing this is that the freon may be low and if you run for a considerable length of time, you'll ruin the compressor. Just jumper it for a couple of minutes with the logicon a/c switch and fan on and see what happens.
