Buying interest in FC flared front fenders, CF hood, CF sunroof, Lexan etc. rear wind
I found a company in AZ that makes fiberglass parts for the usual Honda market and they also specialize in Lamborghini kit cars.
So I sent email over and discussed the possibility of making flared front fenders (Mariah Motorsports style) for $399 vs. what MM charges ($540).
Who would be interested in these to begin with? If you express interest please say #2 if you are after #1 guy who wants them. Makes things easier to count.
I also made a point about many people being very interested in a CF hood either n/a style or turbo 2 style or whatever style you guys want as I know there is interest for many different types.
Please do the same for interest in the hood project with the count like above.
Also a CF sunroof panel.... as the stock one weighs 22lbs and is rust prone. Interest in this?
Last but not least a lightweight rear lexan window. Mazda Competition cost is $450+..... I'd like to see if a cheaper price can be had. Maybe FAL should be contacted for this as they make lightweight racing windows for many import vehicles and this is not out of their engineering skill range at all.
So I realize that this topic has been brought up before.... but I don't see any products that have been released for us from anyone for mass distribution that has a similar idea to the above mentioned ones. Just to set the record straight.... I don't have the $$$ to fund a huge project like this.... but I can get it organized and hand it off to someone that wishes to pursue it further.
The vendor I've contacted says he needs a hood to do the CF versions as well as sunroofs and the fenders. This will of course pose some problems I'm sure.... but I want to initially guage interest and take it from there. What is a reasonable price for the hoods/sunroof/rear hatch?
Personnally I'm interested in the fenders and sunroof idea. I have an aluminum hood already and don't see the point in going CF. How much more weight would a CF hood shave off? An aluminum N/A hood is about 29lbs.

I am very interested in most of these items.
1. flared front fenders. I much prefer the type on RE Amemiya FC2000 over Marian front. If you haven't seen them it has a little arch over the stock downslope off the hoodline (looking from front). This allows for more suspension travel w/ out having to go so wide on the fender to maintain the stock downslope.
I would pay $300-600 for these in FB or CF depending on quality/material
2.CF hood. I would pay $300-500 for a CF hood NA hood, but I want just a light skin that requires hood pins. Dull finish but strong is fine.
3. Scratch resistant arcrylic rear hatch. If you could get one out of "speed glass" or one of the newer scratch resistant coated plastics I would pay $300-450.

87GTR, is that a stock replacement w/ hood latch, hinge attachment and rigidity or just a skin?
I thought a CF skin would be 5-10lbs like the FG ones are- maybe stronger and ligher even...
edit- can't spell this morning

You know
That is killer! GTR
a CF skin for the stock Hood Frame
instead of a whole CF hood which would have mounting issues and Fit
This way is cheaper too!
and on that note
There is someone in my town(heard about him/never met) that does the same thing but in FB
One of my TII's hood needs a new skin
----
what about rear fender flares?
So I can run wider wheels/Tires

If SOMEONE made a ******* CF hood in BOTH NA and TII style they'd make a ****** load of cash.
Sure, you may want all the 'fancy' vents, but for all us who 'need' a TII hood or have a steel hood, a CF replacement is all we care about...save about 50 lbs

CF hood (reversed scoop if possible, but N/A would be fine)
And sunroof if no one else comes out with it first, mine is bubbling and I'd like to get her painted before school starts although I doubt that will happen.

I'm in there like swim wear for the front fenders. You can sell me the prototypes or even test fit them on my car. You can use my stockers as plugs for the mold, I don't care. I just need some wider fenders!
