bumper dent removal help

i have two dents on my bumper where the license plate bracket thing was mounted...looks like maybe the pressure from the bracket over time or maybe someone backed into the car b4 i bought it who knows...they are fairly small dents, but annoy the hell out of me... i read you can heat them and add body ice? or bondo and sand it...i have never done any body work...what would be the best route for me to go?

If you're talking about the front license on an FC, the nose is not metal so the heat/ice trick won't work.

Depending on how bad they are, you might get some of it out with heat. There is a styrofoam liner behind the urethane cover, and a fiberglass sub-bumper behind that.

Check both of the under parts by pushing on them and see how far you can push it in. It shouldn't go more than 1/2", if it does then you have hidden damage.

I bought a TII a while back that showed slight damage, dimples in the cover from the license plate bolts. The sub-bumper was a V and some of the sheet metal between the bumper and radiator was bent. The only thing that showed from the ourside was the dimples and the seam between the hood and bumper was tight.

Go to your local autobody supplier, there is a body putty specific for the urethane body parts. Prep work is key to getting a good long lasting bond, but it works quite well.
