I assume the housing would warp before the rotors.

you cannot use any kind of abrassive pad to clean rotor housings. the seals need to glide through the housings smooth and effortlessly. the grooves on the outerside of the housings indicate that your apex seals are starting to get a teardrop corner of each side of them. lay the seals down on a level surface to see if they lay flat. if not, that is why there are grooves in the housings. if you can grip the edge of the housings with your fingernail, they are not reusable. buy new ones. same with the rotors. i have rebuilt at least 4, and trust me, it will be worth it in the end.

Remember that coolant runs around your engine at 200 deg or so, so you shouldn't have any problems at that temp or below. Why not find out exactly what temps you are talking about? Really hot is not a good measurement.

yeah thats true
and as for buying new housings and rotors, i know that is the appropriate thing to do but when you just want to build your NA again with a little extra kick that isn't really an option since i don't have a lot of money especially to buy fresh rotors and housings

i am not going to hot tank the rotors because they might warp and i don't want that
but what about the housings?
You can hot tank all of that stuff. Just be careful if you intend to reuse the rotor bearings because some of the solvents used in hot tanks can eat them up.

Um, no.

Please stop posting misinformation. I have already deleted several of your other posts.

The grooves are caused by the apex seal corner piece, plain and simple. It's a natural wear function.

A light Scotch Brite pad is fine for use on the chrome surface. It is MUCH harder then the pad and won't be damaged.

Not true. Follow Mazda's recommended specs if you are just building a cheap engine for a daily driver. Mazda allows quite a lot of chrome flaking depending on the area.

buy new ones. same with the rotors.
So 2 x $350 for housings, then 2 x $400 for rotors. Yeah, reall good idea on a budget rebuild.

i have rebuilt at least 4, and trust me, it will be worth it in the end.
At least 4? What, you lost count before 5?

You will find that there are very knowledgeable people on this forum, and they will call you out when you post BS. I'm about to search all of your past posts to look for incorrect information and these damaging posts will be deleted.

Aaron Cake - thanks a lot for the information. Also for clarifying and correcting the information.
my brother has a friend who owns a engine machine shop, they clean engine internals for a living and they examine the parts to see what they are made of and clean them appropriately.
