Broken ABS sensor part....question.
Check this out, its what i found when i removed the rotor...Any ideas? My motor sports guide says keep the abs, but it wasn't working prior to taking my car apart, could this broken notched part be the reason it wasn't working? I'm not sure if it was or not, but iirc when i mashed the brakes at high speeds the fronts would lock, and i wouldn't feel an abs rumble...

The excitor or tone ring just sends a magnetic signal to the wheel speed sensor. I don't see how that crack would affect anything. Is your ABS light on? The most common problem with ABS systems is a faulty wheel speed sensor. I would go ahead and replace the ring anyway since it'll probably just get worse.
Edit: and if you're not feeling a brake pulsation under hard braking the ABS system is not working...your ABS light should be on. If its on I believe you can hook up an ABS troubleshooting scan tool to it, you might be able to rent it from advance or something or have a shop do it.

Not to hijack this thread but ive removed my ABS and I also noticed I have a cracked tone ring, since its not needed for anything other than ABS is it possible to remove the tone ring? and how do I do that?
It looks like it bolts on from the back side but nearly impossible to get a wrench in there

Yes removing the tone ring will have no effects on a car with removed ABS. I've never removed one before so I have no idea how, it looks like you probably have to take the dust shield off.

cool thanks guys, The abs light's been off, and there was no pulsing under hard breaking so it wasnt working either. I want to remove it but my friend said ABS is good for track driving.
