getting J-spec FC's from Canada and importing them to the states is actually a better route than importing from Japan. Because the value of the car, shipping and legalizing it w/ registering and paper work. your looking at spending way over what the car is worth getting one from Japan.

I have talked to my friend who runs an importing shop that carries Skylines, Rx-7's, MR2's, Honda this and Nissan that about the FC subject. He said, if you want one. Canada is your best bet as the shipping would be way less and after everything is said and done... you haven't over paid for a 17 year old car.

Badass idea tho, I really want a RHD FC just in stock form and enjoy it. Props to you but just make sure you go through the right sources on getting it here and legalized.

good LUCK man ... I tried getting a car that I was gonna buy a TII from a guy in canada it was almost no different than brining it over from japan.... has to pass all saftey specs etc.... if your in the army i think i read that but while I typing this im not sure..... but anyway.. if you are you can import the car through the military ALOT EASIER!!! I would try that route first! My buddy brought over from japan a 95 Skyline GT-T no problem because hes in the Air force.... so try that first man I have alot of links and paper work and locations to get you started in the right direction if you wanna pm me Ill give you the info.

its very simple!!!!!
dont let anyone disuade you on this.....i stressed out over it but drove right over the border with my RHD car no hesitations no questions asked (except for citizenship and what was my reason for goin to canada)

there are several ways to go ahead with it but here is the best way about it
once the car is imported to canada they can get a title from the canadian DMV no problem, the US DMV wont offer that as an option so it has to be done there
just realize this can sometimes be timely, 30 days or so

after that is done its time to bring the car over, there are two key factors to this:
1. you cant bring the car over with the motor
2. get a receipt showing it being valued at less than $200 dollars

when you get to border patrol just tell them your bringing the car in for parts and it has no title and your not registering it for use on public roads
the reasoning behind this is any motor vehicle being imported with a motor and title must get inspected and pass all safety requirements etc. and $200 is the max amount you are allowed to take over the border without filling out paperwork to claim it

after that point you just take the canadian title to the US DMV and your all registered

i researched all of this for weeks before i attempted it and was surprised at how simple and easy it was!! i called the DMV and asked all kinds of people questions and also called several border liasion companies that assist in bringing stuff over the border. any questions just let me know!

Actually, you can import FC's and FD's extremely reasonably. Whether you get a good car is another story. There's at least 10 FD's in Ontario now that came from Japan in the last few months none of which cost more then 12K (CDN dollars) landed and registered. FC's you can expect to pay between 4-8K depeneding on their condition landed and registered.

I don't know how it works regarding importing to the states....I know you guys don't have the 15 y/o rule so you may have to bend and twist the laws in order to make it happen.

I see alot of speculation in this thread, but only someone who's done it could say whats required.

Importing cars from the USA into Canada is quite easy however. Bring your bill of sale to the border 48 hours ahead of the car, have an inspection at the border, bring it home and licence it.

Good luck!

well here is a hint DONT SNEAK THE CAR OVER THE BORDER!!!!!!!! do it the right way. dont mess up your military carer for a car. its not worth it...even if it is a rhd fc. anyway enjoy your stay in the beautifull country of iraq...lol....side note... i saw a nissan skyline north of bagdad did not believe it myself either but there it was just as plain as day. i think it was a gt-t not the gtr but hey who cares a skyline is a skyline.

I think they were called GTS-T maybe. Either way it's the rwd rb20det motor single turbo version he's talking about... I think...

By the way, is it really as easy as ramello says to bring a car over and register it? It'd really suck to get one over here and find out that you couldn't register it. I have a hard time believing that the border patrol would let you bring a car over and just say it's worth $200 when obviously an FD looks like it's worth quite a bit more.

when your crossing the border you dont have to produce a title if you tell them it doesnt have a title....just a little white lie....but you will need the canadian title in order to register it

and if you have an official reciept stating you paid $200 dollars for something they cant tell you otherwise.....its kinda the same thing when you buy a used car and go to the DMV you bring the bill of sale and common practice around here is to write the bill of sale out for $100 so you only pay like 8 bucks for sales tax instead of whatever the full amount is.....as long as there is a signed reciept for whatever amount thats what they have to go by

ive done it and if you want proof ill post pics tomarrow of the car sitting in my garage
