Break into the 13s, get your Microtech free

Do you have what it takes?

In conjuntion with BR7 Racing's Microtech groupbuy number two, we're offering a challenge to the N/A FC community.

If you buy a Microtech from us, and you are the first to get into the 13s, we'll refund what you paid for the ECU and one tuning method (adapter, dash, or hand unit). That's right. You get into the 13s, you get your LT8 FREE.

Of course, we've gotta have some rules. Your car must be a street car and have a full interior - two seats, a dash, carpet, etc. Mild lightening is okay (tar removal, insulation, A/C and P/S removal, and the like), but no gutted cars. Street porting is okay, but it must be a 6 port 13B. Intake and exhaust are open, so long as you use a Microtech to control fuel and timing and it's all motor (no nitrous, no turbo, no s/c). Rear end ratios and transmission ratios must be showroom stock Mazda (no Mazdaspeed-only ratios). In the end, it's our decision, but we promise we'll be fair.

In order to collect, you have to send us a picture of your car's interior, exterior, and engine bay, and either send us a slip that identifies your car, or a pic/video of your car past the finish line (ET visible). (Please be honest and keep this fun )

Okay, guys. This is it. Hopefully this will light a fire under your asses and prove to the world that the N/A FC is a 13-second car! Good luck!

The diff doesn't have to be stock - only the ratio!

You can have a welded diff if you want, so long as its ratio came stock on some RX-7 at some point (4.3 Kaaz is okay, 4.88 Mazdaspeed isn't).

Same with the tranny. The tranny ratios have to be stock to some RX-7 - you can use a 12A tranny if you want, but no custom-ratio transmissions.

We won't be too **** about the "gutting" provision, but we want to prove that you can build an N/A that will run 13s that will still be liveable for the drive to work.

Hope that clears things up!

How about one for the turbos getting into the twelves with the stock turbo, gear ratio's, and no weight redux...
My freind with a GSl-SE with an S4 6 port motor in it ran 13.9, his car was ungutted but it still weight 2400lbs...

These rules are going to be hard to do it with. Can we cut out the windows, and take a plasma cutter to the frame to lose weight?

Hehehe...

The goal here is to get a streetable car into the 13s. BR7 Racing will be building a car to do just that in the next couple of months.

Here's our projected "cookbook":

S4 chassis w/ alum hood
no sound deadening
no stereo
no power steering
no a/c (with all the crap from under the dash pulled out)
small brakes
GTUs differential
12A transmission (with a good clutch)
lightweight true dual exhaust
ported S5 block w/ TII intermediate and ported TII rotor housings
light flywheel
BR7 Racing TBI Weber upper manifold setup w/ stock 6PI lower and Pineapple sleeves
light racing seats
1/4 tank of gas
a quart low on oil

Oh, and a Microtech LT8, hahaha!

Uhh why would you want to use the microtech, if your running a Weber setup up?

Weber throttle body injection - all the benefits of EFI, all of the airflow of a 52mm-per-rotor intake inlet

Quick Question:

Will there be more group buys after this one? I'm still not ready for an aftermarket ECU.

Nope, this is it. GBs are pretty labor-intensive, and we really want to start focusing on the tuning and engine building aspects of what we do. We have just been really impressed with the Microtech, and are really excited to see it out in the wild!

I have faith that it's possible. Guys are well into the 14s now, I don't see why you couldn't break 13.99 with a real standalone (no AFM), porting, and a good manifold setup!

Like I said, we're even going to shoot for it ourselves!

Oh, dont take me seriously..! I was just needling the N/A guys. There has been a recent pissing contest between the TII and N/A people, and I was just playing a little.

Sorry!

Sincerely though, thats a cool challenge! If I had a running N/A (besides a vert) I would try.

Yeah, will you refund my money, if I break into the 12's with a stock S5 turbo?

Hahaha.

How about I go to the track and break into the 13's on the stock ecu and you send me a microtech free? Then I go back to the track and show what a microtech can to to an already good et...

I can't afford a new windshield let alone a damn standalone and I'm thinking of selling the ******* car due to lack of funds for any racing what so ever.
