BOVs for dummies

Alright I look at BOVs online and it seems there are is one tube that goes into it and it is mounted somewhere on the i/c piping. Is this correct? What does the tube come from? Does it go to the TID(after the AFM)? So is that it, mount the BOV on the i/c piping and run the tube to the TID? Thanks. Oh and I searched and this is the assumption I came up with, just need to make sure I'm right or be corrected. Thanks.

Are you talking about that little hose that comes off the BOV? If so, that goes to a source of vacuum and boost (usually the nipple on the upper intake manifold on the passanger side) If that's what you mean.

The big hose to the BOV connects somewhere between the turbo and the throttle plates. The small hose connects between the throttle plates and the engine. With a MAF engine management system like the FC has, you are supposed to return the air that gets vented to some place between the air flow sensor and the turbo, but some cars run fine without doing this.

Hmm, so with an aftermarket BOV will I need any new tubes or can I use the ones that went to the stock one?

Most aftermarket BOV's don't vent back to the inlet duct, so with most you just need to weld it to the connecting pipe and then run a small vac line from the BOV to the nipple on the passanger side of the intake manifold (right above the lower intake manifold) Now if you do find one that vent's back to the inlet duct (like the stock, no whoosh sound or anything) then it depends on the outlet size if it's the same as the stock. But chances are, whichever you buy will vent to the atmosphere and you won't need to run it back.
