BOV vented to atmosphere....

How can you do this without loosing any performance or damaging anything? I know there is a right way of doing this but when my intercooler line was loose it was making a very nice psshh sound....i just want the same thing in the safe and correct version!

there is no correct way of doing it to an FC, it causes a vacuum leak and a shitty idle.

The proper way is run a stand alone EMS and use a aftermarket BOV.

The next wrong way but wont realy harm anything is just run a aftermarket BOV and vent it.

The home depot way to vent your stock BOV to atmosphere is to run a one-way check valve in line with the bov, so it only vents pressure. This was a pretty popular mod back in the day (god only knows why),. Some people reported that with this mod, thier BOV sounded like a locomotive on crack. Of course Iceblue knew this, because he has been a rotary god for about 10 years, but he neglected to tell you.

Nope, just telling the man that there are other options if you just HAVE to open vent your BOV.

i jnust picked up a FD BOV and a one way valve from kevin along with a AFM adaptor for TID
Five dolla make ya holla!

Kevin had 3 nails/screws in the one way valve because he said the thing inside would flutter around too much and create a vacuum leak.

Exactly why would you need a standalone to run an open vented BOV?

Yes, please elaborate. I have a BOV open vent right now, I'd like to know if this is somehow hurting the performance of my car. Up until now, I had never heard anything like that happening, unless maybe on some newer turbocharged vehicles (emissions related issues, going into limp mode, etc.)

I'm pretty sure he means to cancel the big rich spot when it vents.

does that big rich spot always occur? my friend has a greddy FMIC and BOV and I don't know if this is happening to him or not. He has an Rtek and SAFC, but obviously not standalone.

Ah, I have noticed that bounce on my AFR gauge, just thought it was normal.

Seems like an aweful lot of money to spend on a non-problem. But my original beef with that statement was that he basically said you can't run an open vented BOV without a standalone at all....Obviously not even remotely close to true.
