I think it is the wastegate we're thinking about. I remember an episode of Fifth Gear where Tiff was driving their 200mph+ project Esprit... It made a turkey flutter kinda sound when he boosted; hell he did it twice on film just because it sounded so cool.

It's not the wastegate. It is the BOV, you need to have a BOV with a very hard spring and that will give you that sound IE. Tial BOV or greddy TYPE R, the only disadvantage to it is you are getting compressor surge from the turbo it is not letting all the extra boost out at once that's why it makes that sound.

^^^Uhhh, I dont want a compressor surge. I said theres a BOV that makes a turkey gobble sound, not make the compressor surge. JEEEEEEEZ, lol.
Compressor surge and turkey gobble BOV are 2 diff. things. If you watch some japanese videos w/ souped up cars by big companies, you will hear it. You think the big companies wouldnt know the compressor is suging and the BOV is inadequet and change out for a better one?

Signals drift cars dont run BOVs. They said the intercooler and piping were calculated to absorb the shock of the throttle plate closing. They used BB turbos so the compressor surge is supposta be easier on them. They prefer performance to reliability. same as WRC. Makes sense to me. Compressor surge is ok if your prepared to replace your turbo more than once in the motors life.
