the SARD R2D2 has very distictive sound.. not overly 'shrill' more like a soft sounding air brake purge. But the sound Db. is based more on the ammount of high press. air your pushing through the outlet at a given moment.

it comes with a silver insert.......you only need them if you want to change the sound.
The HKS SSQV silver triple-fin discharge design produces a powerful and unique aggressive blow-off sound along with added visual distinction. Additional triple-fin inserts are available in gold (standard high frequency sound) for visual appeal and in purple metallic (emits a lower frequency sound than both the standard and gold SSBV inserts) for an alternate sound and appearance. SSQV inserts are easily interchangeable within minutes.

I dont have this motor yet. Im pricing all the parts. And will buy and install all of them soon. That should be interesting....
A blow off valve is used to relieve pressure created in the turbo system. Does it not regulate PSI desired as well?

relieves the pressure when you let off the gas and keeps it from making the turbine spin the opposite way (which reduces the life of the turbo)....the screw in the back is used to set the relief PSI....good luck.....I'd focus on everything else aout the TII swap and THEN worry about the BOV

I LOVE the HKS...it's loud and sounds sexy. ...The ONE thing keeping my from getting it is EVERYONE I know who has a turbo has it Even another 10th ae JUST like mine. I don't want to sound the same as his.

im going to conduct a lil study on the hks ssqv. i have a lil ebay bov that has a brass piston i ported that holes bigger and clipped the spring a lil to make sure it was doing its job. i think my ebay butcherd special removed more air than my ssqv. the reasoning? well i have yet to let off a backfire with the new HKS SSQV (has no adjustment screw) . to me this just says its not getting rid of air fast enough. also in order to make that loud *** whistle LOUD i think it has a reduced exit size which increases the velocity increasing the pressure on that cool(sometimes annoying) whistle also means more backpressure. something else that makes me think that its not releasing enough air fast enough is the fact that i can hear it whistle blipping the throttle at low rpms and releasing throttle deep into vacuum. I think im hearing the increased velocity of a smaller hole making noise. i have datalogging im going to test pressure release with.. i have other things to worry about right now. but id say get the original ssqv or some other valve that everyone else doesnt have. i bought mine becuase i already had the piping for it.....

Passing life by
My rule of thumb when performing a swap is, it will be 3x harder then you think no matter how much NFO you read. Second it will cost twice as much as thought and planed :-D
The Type S and SSQV sound annoying as hell! I would use ear plugs if I drove a car daily with them. :-/ Using type RS here sounds great. Anyways it dos not really mater unless you are running a EMS basing MAF on manifold pressure. If not you should recalculate it therefore sounds make no matter.

well I finished my swap in 8 (8hr.) days.......it took me a whole 3 days to completely gut my old TII (to the frame) for a total of 11 days.......label everything and take plenty of pictures. should be plug and play if it is within the same series.
