bouncing RMP and flooding

Since day one i got this car running (88 GXL), the idle has bounced around 1500 and never really idled down. The other day i pulled the TPS connected to ohm out the sensor and seen the terminals were badly oxidized. I use deoxit spray (stuff works wonders btw) and cleaned the terminals on both the sensor and the harness side.

Now it will idle up two 2K for a while, drop to 1500 where it will bounce, and eventually idle down to around 1100-1200 where it has a bit of a shake but the rpms are stable. If i give it throttle to bring it up to 1500, it will bounce again and do it all the way till around 2300 where it smooths out. It rarely does this under load, but it does happen every few times i drive it (i try to drive it once a week just so it doesnt set).

also, It has never flooded on start up untill i cleaned that sensor, now it does it maybe every 3 start ups or so.

When you adjusted the TPS, was the engine fully warm or at least the cold start cam disengaged? If not, then the adjustment isn't correct which will cause your symptom.

A maladjusted TPS will also mask a vacuum leak. So perhaps now that the TPS is adjusted correctly, the vacuum leak is an issue.

adjusted the TPS sensor. Hasnt flooded again yet, and it does seem to idle a but better, but the RPMs still bounce when around 1500. tried to find a vacuum leak with a propane torch today but didnt find anything. Im taking it up to the collage i go to on Thursday and hook it up to their smoke machine.
