Bought a 2 gen need help!!
Sup guys.. I just bought a 1988 Second Generation RX7.. It has 113,000 miles.. And it non turbo.. I AM GOING TO TURBO CHARGE IT.. The seals has never been changed and everything is stock in pretty decent condition.. Will post pics tomorrow.. I was curious exactly what i should do for it too run perfect so i can throw some boost on it.. I was going to change the Apex Seals which should cost me about a 1k.. and what else should i do too the car?? Please let me know guys.. If i put in a GT35 or GT40 or something... What would i need to run this?
Thanks alot

Alright I'm feeling helpful tonight. You can turbocharge the car but it can be pretty destructive if you aren't careful. If you plan on changing the apex seals you might has well buy a TII engine and drop it in the car. Why you would want to go twin turbo is beyond me but you wont be able to use the turbos in sequential mode. Other then that I guess you could use some stuff off a FD to make a twin turbo 13B-T.

Similar with the GT35.
Even if you swap in a TII engine, you'll still need the exhaust manifold, standalone, fuel system, intercooler, exhaust, etc. Just most of it will be off the shelf instead of custom. $10K easily.

FOR SALE 1988 RX7 (NON TURBO) RUNS GREAT, BUT I WANT TO UPGRADE TO A TURBO MODEL.
I would start there! Then buy a TII and dump your 10k into that. Chances are your car is stock and runs great so keep it that way. Buy a blown TII and go from there. Yes, they are still around.

On the NA engine, to do a decent job, almost everything will need to be fabricated no matter which turbo you choose. If you go with anything other then the stock turbo you'll need a standalone and all the fuel mods I've mentioned. Intercooler piping, exhaust, turbo oil and water sources, manifold, and a bunch of other misc. items will need to be fabricated.
If you use the TII engine you won't have to fabricate as much since there are plenty of bolt-on turbo kits. But generally they just come with the turbo, manifold and exhaust. You're still on your own for fuel and intercooler.
