Yeah SCathcart, i have seen people using those kits like that, same with filling them with CO2 for the sole purpose of cooling off the IC. Thanks man, im aware of how detonation works, i just figured with enough fuel you could cool it down, but i guess if it gets hot enough there is no reasonable way of saving it.

hmm, i've been running 15psi through the stock cooler, with hi flow turbo, re-mapped ecu and larger radiator, and not had any problems through hill climbs etc, from what i've researched, a fmic would restrict the flow to the radiator too much.
am i doing something dangerous?

I have done another idea to help out my stock IC when I need it.
I plumbed my Nitrous system purge valve to a spary bar under my intercooler. At the push of a button I can fog nitrous at -127oF through my intercooler and out the hood scoop. I also designed a simple chip, operated off a switch, to cycle the system on and off every 5 seconds (on for one second) when I crank up the boost for hard runs.
I believe it is cold enough by the formation of frost in the IC fins...

detonation is not the only killer of these motors so be careful when working with the TMIC with anything other than the stock turbo.
